j Majik is undoubtebly one of the drum&bass scene’s most prominent and successful artists to date: as a result he has headlined just about every dance music festival around the world and ever since his debut release ‘6 Million Ways To Die’ which he produced when he was just 14 years old, his music has been at the top of just about every prominent DJs record box for over a decade.

Emerging as one of the original ‘Metalheadz’ mentoured by Goldie in and around 1993: he quickly earned his residency at Metalheadz’ legendary Blue Note sessions. Other residencies that J’s been rewarded over the years include London’s acclaimed Fabric nightclub where he resides for Fabric Live nights as well as DJ Hype’s True Playaz nights. After a whole host of quality sets at the venue it was no great surprise when J was asked to put together FABRICLIVE13: It was a tightly mixed trip through Jamie’s box of tricks. Classic tracks were reworked and layered with fresh cuts from across the drum&bass spectrum. Other prominent J Majik Mix CDs have included: DMC Mixer and Mixmag to name a few.

After a barrage of hits for Metalheadz towards the end of the 1990’s J decided to set up his own label Infrared, which has been releasing anthems turned classics ever since: ‘Love Is Not A Game’ featuring the immense talents of Kathy Brown, ‘Space Invaderz’, ‘Capoeira’ and more recently the regularly rewound ‘Dubplate Killa’ to name a few aside from J’s own productions Infrared have released tracks from a whole host of renowned producers including the likes of Goldie, Peshay and Lemon D to name a few. It’s also important to note that due to the label’s underground success, Infrared was approached and accordingly collaborated with Ministry Of Sound’s respected Defected Records which resulted in unprecedented success as they provided a platform for the label’s music to be heard by a whole new audience. This provoked a whole host of production work for J from outside of the world of drum&bass. These include a whole handful of productions and remixes for the likes of: Everything But The Girl, Groove Armada and even Hollywood movie soundtracks. (The Jackal)

J Majik has literally been constantly on tour over the last decade, for the most part on his own however his Infrared tours are also world renowned: taking place annually across America, Asia and Australia.

Today, J Majik’s musical style remains totally varied, with only one common theme the record has to be bursting with the energy that makes people want to dance.
