In 2009 the Sony inthemix50 Club Tour is a truly epic undertaking, with more than 20 events planned nationwide throughout the five week voting period. With this in mind, Limelite again hosts what looks to be one of the year’s biggest and best bangers. Limelite & InTheMix.com.au are proud to present Timmy Trumpet & Tenzin.
Part young buck, but 100% party hound, Tenzin has carved himself out a niche as one of Sydney’s most dynamic members of the club kid set. Seamlessly blending everything from party hip hop to grinding glitch-tech and electro/house,Tenzin seems to find himself consistently pulling clubs and ripping dance floors apart.
A distinctive Sydney-sider, he’s been pushing vinyl around town everywhere from Dragonfly and Lady Lux to Greenwood, Sapphire Suite, Havana, Yu/Soho and The Eastern Hotel. But the last 18 months have also seen the young buck travel regularly interstate and overseas where his signature skills has won him a now national legion of fans, appreciative of the fact that no two Tenzin sets are ever alike.
Timmy Trumpet on the other hand, a good friend of Tenzin’s, just keeps racking up the worldwide mileage. On the back of much anticipated gigs @ Pacha & London’s Ministry of Sound, Timmy has stamped his name as arguably one of Australia’s best DJ sidekicks - but doesn’t seem to have stopped there. He has taken his electro symphony a step further and launched a solo career as a DJ / TRUMPET COMBINED ARTIST, landing him residencies at clubs such as Arthouse (Sydney), Platinum (Gold Coast), Monastery (Brisbane), Limelite (Perth), Dragon Fly (Kings Cross)! In fact, in just under a few years of DJing he has already made the ITM Top 50 DJ’s placing #37 in 2008 and looking to go even higher in 2009.
He’s also supported and played alongside ERIC MORILLO, KASKADE, The Stafford Brothers, Potbelleez and Sneaky Sound System and carved himself out somewhat of a niche – anti-conformist to the group sound and instead focusing all his energy and musical gift to transform rhythm and sound via his electronic trumpet.
The year so far has seen Timmy go one better, mesmerizing “Zouk” Singapore and “Mass” in South Korea on his Asian tour. The European summer see’s him playing “Club Paradise” in Mykonos and another round of Pacha in Ibiza. He has also found the time to finally sit down and put together a debut remix release due in July.
He remains one of Limelite’s favorite sons and drops into town with the now infamous 2009 Summafieldayze “Pjanoo” youtube clip permanently etched in everyone’s memories.
