Dj Suv Bio

As a crucial member of the respected Full Cycle and stables, Suv, once described as "The Lee Perry Of Drum'n'Bass", has undoubtedly contributed his fair share to the development of Drum n Bass and definitely to the sound of Bristol.

A member of the seminal 1989 group Fresh Four who burst onto the scene with 'Wishing On A Star', Suv has continued to carve a musical journey both as a solo producer and part of larger conglomerates with Roni Size, Krust and Die always with the intent to break new ground.

Having listened to everything from Bob Marley to David Bowie growing up in the UK, Suv brings a truly urbane, open-minded sense to his musical productions. With his involvement with the Mercury Prize award winning band "Reprezent" , Suv is known by some of the band’s members as Echoe Sounds and FX man, also plays percussion in the live shows, and is always regarded as a very active band member.

Suv has worked with Roni Size on such tunes as “Newforms , “Jazz”, “Beatbox” and the chart hit “Lucky Pressure” featured on 's "In The Mode" album released late 2000.  He is often credited as Full Cycle’s “freebeat” ambassador for using techniques which elongates the bar structure of his compostitions. His involvement in since day one has established Suv as a leading figure in the world of "Drum'n'Bass".

In 2001 Suv releases his first solo album "Desert Rose" on the Full Cycle label the CD kicked up a storm with its release. Borrowing influences from Latin, Brazilian, Hindu and Moroccan grooves, the vinyl EP was canned by everyone from the likes of Grooverider and Fabio to eclectic leftfield DJs like Gilles Peterson and John Peel, proving that good Drum n Bass can appeal to both the serious headz as well as anyone who appreciates good music. Mixing up these Asian and Flamenco-inspired themes with his trademark Bristol dubby sounds has definitely given Suv a new dimension.

French label Black Tambour in August 2003 saw him follow up the "Desert Rose" CD with ' Follow the Sun". Like its precursor a double album, featuring remixes and collaborations with international artists like Dj Krust, Surge, MC Darrison, MC Verse, Patife and Tali.  Current projects has included the recent release of Suv's very his own label called Playside. Playside releases represent the signature Suv style that you'll hear in his DJ sets -  with the pure intention to push the boundaries within Drum & Bass, he is always delving into unchartered territory in terms of fresh rhythms.
