Crazy Penis Biography

Crazy Penis started out as a duo made up of Jim baron and Chris Todd. They met at Nottingham University where they were studying to further themselves, or rather, sitting around smoking fags and trying to make records. They did make a record called "digging deeper" and it was released on the musica vitae label, which was run by a friend of Jims. The track got excellent reviews from the likes of Ashley Beedle, the murk boys and Laurent Garnier which encouraged Jim and Chris to continue with their compositions and begin looking further a field to a successful recording career.

The second project was the one that would start their association with Paperecordings. The track was called "summer bummer" and created an outstanding response all over the world and brought them to people's attention more. This track relied on classic tones of Jims trombone playing, a cheeky sample and an infectious house rhythm that set the ball rolling to the second ep "baby we for real" and their debut album.

As requests for live appearances started to come in, Jim and Chris realised they couldn't do it all on their own, not that they weren't good enough, just that there was lots to do, so new recruit Tim Davies was brought in. the result of this was the album "a nice hot bath with" this is one of paper's biggest selling albums to date and proves the popularity of the band with brilliant worldwide sales.

The Sun rises in the East Midlands.

It rises with Nottingham's Crazy Penis on a high. The release of the acclaimed album “A Night On Earth” has set in stone the worldwide reputation acquired via their first 3 albums, "A Nice Hot Bath With...", "The Wicked Is Music" and "24 Hour Psychedelic Freakout".

"A Night On Earth" is an epic journey to the dark side of the funk, a coming of age album for a truly gifted group of young British musicians.

They kick it on Record and they kick it Live. Increasingly hailed as every hip housewife's favourite live act, the Crazy Penis live troupe has crossed continents and cultures with missionary zeal. Live Highlights are too numerous to mention with the band blitzing everywhere from Sydney to St. Petersburg to Istanbul and back. Crazy Penis played to over 100,000 people in the UK as main support act on the Faithless arena tour and rocked every single show.

Now, with “A Night On Earth” featuring in Album Of The Year charts across the Dance Media in the UK, being featured everywhere from Celebrity Big Brother to  The Sopranos and picking up broadsheet acclaim to boot (“More hooks than a club cloakroom” The Guardian), Crazy Penis are set to go bang again with a winter of non-stop live action in the Uk going into summer in Australia and NZ and the release of the new single "Can't Get Down" featuring Remixes by Ashley Beedle, Hot Toddy and Ron Basejam.

Premiered on Pete Tong's Essential Selection on Radio 1as part of Crazy Penis' recent live performance from the legendary BBC Maida Vale Studios, the “Can't Get Down” release is going to be yet another heavy vinyl monster.

Crazy Penis have just been signed up for a worldwide TV and Cinema Commercial by Southern Comfort... The commercial, which features the band performing in Stockholm, will be on screens in the USA, UK, Australia and South Africa.
