One of my decks (Technics 1210's) has started randomly speeding up and slowing down on it's own accord. It seems to only happen when the pitch control isn't set at +/- 0. Does anyone know what's wrong with it?
yeah,
it's fucked !
. . .
how old is it ? perhaps it is time for it's 10000th record service ? ?
. . have you been playing psy trance on it again ? ? http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

THANKS DART http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Yes I have been playing psytrance on them but I tried to rectify the situation with a drum and bass track (Dj Red?) however this seems to have made it worse.
Servicing sounds like the way to go.
Cheers! All the best for the new year and I hope Roller comes back bigger and better in 2002 http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I agree with Dart - a service is the best way to go. If you've got a problem with your drive mechanism it can really fuck up a mix.
Also if theres a short in your pitch control circuit, intermittently cutting in and out it needs a fixin!

Thanks James, any recommendations on somewhere to get it serviced?

it only ever happens on 0. so if u cant be bothered
getting them serviced, dont mix tunes on 0.

C'mon Heretik these are his DECKS man! What kinda attitude is that???
Seriously though Akira - take em to Steve @ R'M'X - they do know about decks there.. I got bits for some old belt drives (now in retirement!) a few years ago when everyone said I'd never find parts for em.

Most decks suck at 0%, hence why 1210mk3's have been released without the clicker at 0%.
There is a guy who has been putting flyers around the place who does turntable servicing, I think I saw them at Centrals.
The flyer has a 3D pic of a turntable on it.

if you bring steve a six pack of cascades and offer to wax his bum hair he might hurry things up a little maybe 4 or 5 days if ya lucky
it'll take about a week approx...
Hmmmm.... you rekon?
Thats what they all say and it ends up taking ages but rmx is the technics agent here so it would be the right thing to do.

Not yet but it's only because I'm doing temp work which = no $ for the public holidays we just had which = no spare $ untill next week.
But I'm going to drop them into RMX as soon as I get paid next week. I heard someone say you should get them serviced once a year but I don't know for sure.

How much is Steve Barrington's ponytail (complete) on sale for Greg?

I think you'll need to replace the slider, this means unsoldering
the old one resoldering the new. I recommend you go pioneer
in welshpool buy the part yourself then get someone who can
solder to do it for you.

When this happens it could be a couple off thing
1) your pitch is old and need replacing or it could be dirty or even got wet.
2) if your decks are old it could be the magnet.........
and if it is im not shure how mutch a magnet is but i can find out for you.
but put it in for a full service and it shuild be ok technics are good like that no matter how old they are

dont worry about Steve's ponytail on his head- thats harmless...i dont like the story whereby his selling script for *cant remember name of* slipmats was "if you fancy scratching- these are the ones for you. Theyre thinner than most mens pubic hairs, including mine"
URRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Nah, Steve's allright. Bit of a character to say the least, tho we can all be at some point. I think most people in Perth that were lucky enough to buy 1210's/1200's factory direct were from that gaff.

the pony tail was harmless , it was the undercut shave that did it , i hasseled him for having that hairstyle and being close to 40, one day i walked in and 'boom' it was gone!
his wife congratulated me on my imput!
*sorry steve* least i still have my day job

Well perhaps the proceeds from the auction of Steves ponytail could be put into buying the Berlin back form Western Power.
Having that would complete any dance scene memorabilia collection. Would he throw in his little goatee for a few extra $$$ ?

Im sure steve's ponytail is worth a pretty penny, and will pull top dollar at the auction, but it has nothing on Uncle Hutch's hat!!

HAHAHAHAHA! thePiss funny Greg, better make sure the CLAW doesn't catch you writing things like that!
Speaking of Arsenal, I have a picture of Hutcho passed out on the floor at Karnage's place with a Spurs jacked placed neatly on his back! theHe would pay dearly to get the negs of that off me....but he never will, makes great bribery material.
