So, I know there's some gabber fans on here. I have the impression though that it's not that popular over there. But I know of some pretty hard shit that comes from Australia, specifically the Bloody Fist label. Nasenbluten is Australian, aren't they? I've also heard of Mark N (from Newcastle I think?).
I've mentioned before that gabber is practically never played here in Edmonton and many people do not even know what it is. Calgary, which is about 300 km south of Edmonton, has a pretty healthy following with small hardcore focused parties every other month or so. Most recently, I travelled down to the states for a party out in the California desert near Las Vegas, for this huge massive that had 9 different stages, one of which was a hardcore stage and I caught sets from Omar Santana from LA, Noise Supressor from Italy, Da Predator from Holland, and other LA DJs.
So where am I going with this?...Please tell me about hardcore in Perth http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Hosted any big DJs? Anyone recognize any of these other DJs I mentioned? What style of hardcore do you like? What hardcore DJs and producers do you like? Do you have some local DJs that spin it and what style?
Myself, I'm really digging the newstyle gabber sound that has evolved out of Holland. DJ Promo has put out some pretty wicked shit, as well as Paul Elstak (I LOVE that "Get Off the Fucking Car" track!), and Scott Brown's newstyle tracks are hella dope as well. And Omar Santana kicks ass too!
As far as I know, there are 2 people in Edmonton that spin hardcore (and I'm not talking about happy hardcore or uk hardcore). Biomechanic (who I've yet to hear spin) has a self-described style as breakscore and speedcore which is on the harder and more experimental edge. And there's me http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/tounge.gif. I focus on the Dutch sound of oldstyle and newstyle gabber.
So Perth, where's the hardcore heads at?!

Lots of people spin it here... One of my personal favourite locals being Dair.
Scott Brown is playing here on friday with Hixxy at Elysium, you've prolly seen the banner splashed across the top http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif
On the first friday of every month (normally... dec/nov we had internationals so it changed), Elysium is held at the same place as the Drum Club normally is. Elysium is hardcore night.. Although there's a lot of crappy tardcore played there.
Speedcore gives me a boner. NOTHING can give the look you get from your neighbours like playing speedcore at 4.30 on a monday morning. BAM BAM BAM BAM. Hahahah!
I caught sets from Omar Santana from LA, Noise Supressor from Italy, Da Predator from Holland, and other LA DJs.
Fuck you. I'm jealous.
There's a bit of a hardcore following in perth, Resistance is every saturday night @ the rosemount and brings all the loyal followers. However it's pretty much gone in the rave scene. When mickey finn was on, we got a hardcore room which was GREAT. NYE's Intensity gig will have hardcore too. Churchy is playing a dutch set. I'm happy http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
I'll leave the rest to someone more knowledgable than me.

Hardcore club nights. Wow. But fading from the rave scene?
I'd love to catch Scott Brown live to see if he'd play just happy stuff or if he'd mix it up with gabber.
That's pretty neat to hear that there actually is a following over there http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif

If u wanted "hardcore u know the score" kinda stuff in Perth, then you'll be a bit disappointed - we did the hardcore thing well men'al and full on about 6 <x> 9 years ago.
Suffice is to say the hardcore clubs we had a dead and gone now - much to my chagrin.
Although some hardcore FANATIKs remain (haha pun intended) Perths hardcore scene ain't what it used to be.

I'll be perfectly honest in that I only caught 2, maybe 3 tracks before I ran off to another stage, and I'm not familiar enough with his material to know what the tracks were http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/sad.gif. But I don't remember hearing the sample you mentioned.
This party that I was at was just ridiculously huge that I had to skip out on many DJs to catch others. (Imagine 9 stages all in a row on a strip of desert over a mile across).
I did catch all of Omar Santana's set though. Actually, he was doing a 2x4 with Eric Santana. That was fricken insane. Just imagine, Omar steadily cranking up the hardness (trading off with Eric) until Omar was dropping the terrorcore and then Eric started scratching along to it. *drool* http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/wow.gif

shit
trust you to start talking hardcore when i'm not here
da predator hey? I dunno, i'm not real keen on him, especially for the fact that he's followed dj ruffneck to the whole dnb thing (gay)
noise supressor is OK, some tracks i like more than others. the promo rmx of "kiss" is my personal favourite.
apparently scott brown will be playing happy then going hardcore.. oops sorry i mean "nu skool gabba" (oh god) .. but more than likely he'll just be playing the dutch party tracks, after all he is buddies with neophyte and he's one of the main partycore guys.. but you know, it's better than what we normally get so i'll be there
promo is #1. his latest; file 10b is very crazy - a complete change of direction again, very unfriendly stuff, not party music thats for sure.
hardcore in perth is very confused. i'm not sure why, to me it's so simple, european hardcore (often referred to as "newstyle") is easily the most innovative, and intelligent type of hardcore, YET its the old, generic, boring UK happy hardcore thats played here - i don't get it, and i don't think i ever will. the only way it can be truly understood is to give yourself a lobotomy - something i don't particularly want to do (but hey, when in rome).
oh by the way that dj paul song is pretty terrible, a prime example of the partycore bollocks that i've been on about

by the way, mark n is 1/3 of nasenbluten (last time i checked); and owns bloody fist records in newcastle
not my style at all, but i like his attitude

Da Predator doin' D'n'B? This was only back at the beginning of September that I saw him and he was spinning hardcore. He also had a release on H2Oh not that long ago. Or maybe he is doin' d'n'b? I dunno.
I listened to a clip of Promo File #10b and I think it's pretty wicked. It's funny cuz I read on a Dutch message board some mixed reactions to it. Some liked it, some hated it. I certainly want to get it.
I kind of figured that Mark N, and Bloody Fist and Nasenbluten were all tied together.
I do admit that I'm not against playing what you'd call cheesy partycore http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/tounge.gif Because happy hardcore is more or less the only style of hardcore that people here have been exposed to, this makes for good crossover stuff. So sue me, I'm a bit cheesy with hardcore...but I still get a kick out of "Get Off the Fucking Car", heh http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/wink.gif . At least it's better than what Elstak used to put out.
I think it's great that hardcore was petitioned to be played! If all goes well and Murphy's Law doesn't come into effect, I'll be playing hardcore at a big party in March. It'll be the 1st time in at least 2 years since hardcore other than happy hardcore is played at a party here. I don't mind happy hardcore, but dammit, if that's played on a semi-regular basis at parties then surely people here can go off on some gabber http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/wow.gif

Heh, I love hardcore.
I have to admit, I love a song that sounds so horrible and hard I have to hold myself back from shutting it off.

I've only got the original Noize Supressor version of "kiss" and (as much as I love his style) it's just crap! I'm hoping that the Promo version gives it a bit of a kick in the arse, I can't stand any of the vocal samples in there!!

yep da predator is doing drum n bass on dj ruffneck's label ruffteck records. omar santana is doing breaks now. both have released hardcore fairly recently on h20h; but to me it sounded like real generic simple stuff.
yeah i can imagine that file10b would have a mixed reaction; it has very strong techno influences, no melodies, no "normal" hardcore bassdrums... takes a while to get used to it, but once you do, its a killer. file 10a is also cool, although there's only one promo remix on it, but its really good
i used to play some partycore, but lately with the quality of darkcore and experimental/industrial hardcore being released, and of course the fact that the partycore stuff hasn't really progressed for 2 years or so, i find it too simple. "get off the fucking car" was certainly catchy, the first time i heard it i actually wanted to get the record, but to me it's the kind of song i'd just have on mp3, not vinyl. dj paul is someone who doesn't have my respect, he is in it for the money. (but yes he's certainly done much worse!)
adam : i haven't heard the original, whats it like? vocal samples?? the promo rmx has the rap samples (no surprises there) like WHAT THE HELL IS THIS BITCH and something about barbara striesland (or however you spell it) its pretty damn hard
yo, I moved this to the crate.

Actually, Omar has been doing breaks for a few years now. He's a dual genre DJ and producer. His breaks label is Tricked Out and of course H2oh is the hardcore label.
Production wise, there are some tracks I really like while others are so-so. I find that his material often tends to sound very similar. But dang, he's pretty sweet live!

speaking about rufftek - former perth boy and 6152 resident paul blackout is on the current rufftek release. some very well programmed, dark jungle that shits all over about 85% of the drum'n'bass being written by his compatriots in both perth and sydney. i urge everyone to chase it down!
