dont know how it fucked up, some weird blue screen and then it all went whack from there.
systems operation couldnt be found, windows wouldnt load.

there was nothing on c drive either when i was in dos mode.

i beleive norton disk manager or something like that ?

haven't used it myself but i think it does something roughly like this...

when something gets deleted on the fat table.. only the first digit of that string gets changed to show that that sector is free...
what a file recovery program will do is go and find those deleted files (the ones that are renamed) and rename them back to what they were originaly...
what OS are u running etc?

and have u virus scanned etc?
it would be a good idea to try virus scan if ur put it in another box (u wouldnt want that box to do ths same thing)

Checkout yellow pages theres a few places in that that specialise in data recovery, it's costly, but if u want ur tunes back.. it's worth it..

To give you a rough idea, they've recovered hard drives that were fucked on in fires and floods and recovered 80% (or thereabouts) of the data.

take it to a F%^&ing data recovery joint and I'll bet they can get most of it back for you, honest, just don't go reformatting the drive or re-installing winblows and take it straight in.

shit marc! that is fucking crap! I know how you feel. I had exactly the same thing happen to me last year, lost EVERYTHING! All my programs, all my samples, ALL my tunes, EVERYTHING! Took it to get checked out to see if anything could be retrieved, but alas, it was all gone. Only thing to do is start from scratch. At least it gave me a fresh start.

churchy: you dont know why people dont just use pcs because you have never used an emu- even if you were to not sample from other tunes and make every sound yourself it sounds a shitload better if you sample the individual keys of the sound you have made onto the emu- and i mean right from when you first sample them they sound better- then youve got the emu filters - they are the shit - nothing ive heard [within a budget] comes close

i wont bother arguing about sampling sounds from other tunes as i think you need to actually hear the results for yourself rather than have it explained to you

ondy, you can't compare music to painting and writing. its a whole new ball game.

writers can't make new words and use them effectively (normally) because we wouldn't understand them. music isn't to be understood (not in the same way, anyhow)

painters can't make new colours, because there is only a limited number of colours that are visible to the human eye.

musicians however, if using the electronic method, have the beauty of being able to make an enormous amount of very different sounds.

it may be hard work to work your own sounds, but who fucking cares? the end result is better, not to mention you could respect your own music.

my 2 mates were recording voices for an animation theyre doing, one thing lead to another and he sampled a fart. problem was when he gave the mic back he went to continue recording the voices
........not a good idea, the lingering odour is still attatched to the mic as he found out.....
twas one of the more ridicoulous situations i have witnessed i must say.

ive heard some of travis's tracks and if how u compile music into audio artistry determines the origionality of your music, then i think you could all learn alot from not just his tracks but alot of hardcore......esspecialy since most drum n bass/breaks are very basic 'amen machine' style drum loops broken up. this would be why there are drum loop sampler software for this genre and no 'hardcore/trancecore/darkore' software , u just cant do it.

in regards with the old tracks adam brown was talking about, they are all made with samples, most not made by me. i was using madtracker back then, and it fucking drove me mad, it was so limiting - i was dying to atleast hook vaz up but madtracker has no midi out. so you can disregard those tracks. i still like them, but the fact that the sounds aren&#39;t mine really bothers me.

so there is new stuff in the pipeline.
