Well what did everyone think? Up until 12 o'clock last night I didn't even think I was going...decided to go on the spur of the moment!
Got there just in time for Mickey Finn's set which was fucking wicked. Missed a bit of it though coz I went back to the car and there was that big line to get back in (dodgy fake tickets!!)
Steven's set went off, as per usual, and el hornet ended the night in true style. The only bad thing was the air conditioning (or lack of it)
Big allo to all those I met (anna, i, and everyone else) Sorry I missed the meet up. Allround top night! Glad I ended up going!

What I saw of Mickey Finn was really good the only problem being , that I also made the mistake of going out to the front were when we went to go back in we were told by a dwarf with a ponytail and a serious steroid addiction, that we couldn’t go back in because "it was too full and would have to wait for people to come out". Now the question is how did it get so full I doubt it was because of doggy tixs(they were checking uv markings).I think that it was possibly dew to the greed of the drum club by selling more tixs than they could legally sell and then attempt to fix this problem by keeping people who have paid $30 outside, which is completely fuked up so we have to suffer because the drum club wants to get few extra dollars. Fuk the drum club and its new years bullshite i dont want to be standing in an ally on new years eve because drum club f***** up again.

Yeah I thought it was a bit odd when we arrived at around 1:30 and were made to wait for 20 minutes due to overcrowding yet they were letting other people straight in...I'm sure they had their reasons but god knows what they were. Anyone tell me how Finn's set was? Had to miss it due to set times in the second room being switched around. Still had a good night though.

I'm not sure why everyone had a headache but I had a fucking blinder too. Nonetheless I had a great time!
Mickeys set was quite good. A few really old and thrashed tunes in there but overall I think it was quite good.
Went to the meetup and met Dakaktus, Osiris, i, and RL, which was cool. The only downside about the meetup was a particular nameless person who looked me up and down and gave me evils as I was shaking his hand, yet had nothing to say? Weak http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
It was good to see the inclusion of a second room, and all the sets I heard in there were class, apart from the no show from Berzerk?
The crowding issues were due to forged tickets. Drum Club had actually stopped selling tickets when they reached the capacity they were allowed, so unfortunately you can only blame it on the scammers. That line was terrible I agree.
Absoloutely wicked crowd all night. 5am shutdown and everyone was still going totally mental.
Well done to all of you for making it a wicked party.

To be honest I don't normally post on here but last night has made me so angry. Usually I just go the the MFI and Emerge events but a few friends said that the Next Level would be cool.
Paid my money and got shamelessly ripped off. I don't usually complain but last night it was so wrong. You don't pay money to see an act and enjoy yourself and then spend the whole time in a cue. And then deal with the nasty and don't give a shit attitude of the people working the door and the security. That guy at the front of the cue was nasty and anyone who I tried to ask for help or a refund even just ignored me. The same with my friends.
After missing most of Micky Finn set we finally got in and it was too hard to move around. Excuse me dancing space. We got pushed and shoved and almost dragged into a fight between 3 or 4 guys. Absolute shit.
Not to mention the fact that it was a sauna and the sound was distorted. I have only been going to events for about a year but this was by far the worst. Absolutely nothing like After Forever or Blackout last year. I haven't experienced any of these problems the other times I have been out. I spoke with a few other people outside and they thought the same. Never again will I go to one of their events.

Like I said, the queue was relative to forged tickets.
The venue has a legal capacity. The amount of tickets were sold to fill that capacity, but there was more people than tickets that were sold, so the venue OWNER (note: a seperate person from the promoter) made people queue up. He stood at the entrance and was instructing the security to let one person in when one person left and so on.
A fucked up situation, yes.
I didn't see the fights, but thats really not on.

I guess I shouldn't be writing when I am still angry but that just doesn't cut it. Aside from the cue there were heaps of other things wrong as I mentioned. If there were forged tickets which I doubt why was this not explained. Surely someone from Drum Club could have stood at the cue and told people rather than have that prick bouncer be nasty to everyone. And it also doesn't explain why when we asked the Drum Club people what was wrong or for a refund we got no response.
You pay money to see Mickey Finn then you should get to see him. You pay money to have a good night and you get fights and bullshit negative attitude getting pushed by other people because there was no room.

Had a great night. Was initially a bit disappointed that there was no line up details posted as I usually like to plan my evening between the two rooms, but then just going with the flow for a change worked out fine. Didn't see much of Mickey Finn's set because of the crowding, but from the bit I did see, it made me realise how good the local djs are! Good to see a successful meet up this time too. Nice to meet you guys, probably be a few more meets before I start to remember who everyone is, but then I've never been very good with faces, and I ain't gettin' any younger! The drum club people had a UV light to check for fake tixs this was not the main cause of the problem. The problem was that they (drum club) thought they would be able to get away with selling too many tix but when the owners found out that was when the troble started. The bouncers never said their were fake tix only that the venue was too full, when asked how or why it became too full their was no answer. I just hope that shit like this dosnt happen again.

Personally i had a good night.
The crowd was totally up for it, not too many dodgies etc.
totally awesome vibe in the dnb room as well as the second arena .
I unfortunately missed half of mickey finns set due to the problems at the front entrance - i'm not buying that excuse ..
although i was rather pleased with the sounds from the locals .
The hardcore was a must for me, had a good time bouncing away at the beginning of the night, but what was up with the sound system that kept stopping ?
Teknoscape meetup : heheh got a few weird looks as i was putting up the sign (by the way the sign was near the stairs to the girls toilets , next to the guys) met fellow teknoscapers i, shesgotone, dakaktus, stealth, technojohnny, elhornet, osiris, and anyone else i missed. Oh and thumbs up for all the teknoscapers that didn't make it to the meetup who all seemd to be making a killer of a night (weez, phat brat, rico, and of course medwin http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif )
a few problems : (lineup times, overcrowding - c'mon guys now that is not on !, and an early finish - exactly why was that ?) and the testosterone of the security team, who when i asked why we were not allowed in simply replied "overcrowded" - and failed to provide any information on "fAkE TiCkEtS" .
apart from that, i had a definately worthwhile night, good venue setup, not too many people fuct up (it was clear to see that this event, the majority were there for the tunes), good to see the hardcore going for longer than it should have , nice one ! http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif
for me - definately worthwhile, but wheres the respect eh ?
oh and one more thing - the fights. i witnessed one at the very end, and as soon as the lights and music stopped, this dodgy looking fellow immediately turned around to start on some guy, the poor guy didn't want to fight, i couldn't help myself but to tell him to leave it alone .
okay enough said http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif
hope everybody had a good night http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif

There WAS a problem with fake tickets, I was standing at the door at the time talking to Johnno and a few others when they discovered it, the tickets that were fake all had the same number on them....You should not be blaming the drum club for what happened but the fuckwit who ripped everybody off by printing up fake tickets and scoring probably a nice lill profit on the side.
K Babey
18-11-2001, 10:05 PM
The over crowding on the night would have been a direct result of the fake tickets, who knows how many people got through with them before they realised there was a problem...combine that with the legit ticket sales and what do you have....more people than expected.

Thanks for the backup on that Keelz. I don't usually make a habit of fabricating wild stories. http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif
With the amount of people in total at the venue on the weekend, I still think they would have had plenty of room, however the venue owner saw it a little differently.
a few problems : (lineup times, overcrowding - c'mon guys now that is not on !, and an early finish - exactly why was that ?) and the testosterone of the security team, who when i asked why we were not allowed in simply replied "overcrowded" - and failed to provide any information on "fAkE TiCkEtS" .
The early finish was by choice of the venue owner. 5am is too early in my opinion, but thats their choice.
The overcrowding issue has been explained, not sure why you'd bring it up again really. Soapbox?
Ideally the security guys probably weren't all sure of exactly what was going on, hence the lack of information you received.
Theres fake tickets at nearly every event, so don't think thats something people would make up as an excuse.
I think the Raggabone crew did a good job keeping things running smoothly considering.
I guess at the end of the day I'm happy because I had a wicked time.

Well when we went through and handed our ticks to the girl behind the desk she didnt even put them under the UV light, later on myself and Nat were chattin to Johnno and a few others at the desk and they started randomly checking the tickets they collected it and they noticed it, it was quite hard to notice under the UV light.
No idea who the culprit was but that shit is just wack. Ruined most peoples night.

I didn't make it to the dreams party. Was supposed to get a call to see if it was worth going there after Next Level. Didn't get one so I guess it closed early?
Lineup times in the second room made more sense than the original lineup, but it would have been good if someone remembered to do a few little posters with the times on it.
Alans set probably got screwed around due to the spur of the moment decision by the owners to close at 5 instead of 6.

You can make all the excuses you want but the drum club fuked up . Excepting the idea that their was fake tixs than the grumpy lady at the door shouldn?t of been so damn lazy an actually checked all the tix . The bouncers at the door were definitely quilty of selling to many tix and i personally have spoken to under age people who have gotten into the drum club with a $10 bribe (to the front door man who cheeks ID's). Either way the promoters of this event fuked it up , and i hope everybody remebers this and boycotts the drum club New years event we have to stand together and show that we will not put up with this short of shit.
I am waiting for the drum clubs official response for what happened on Saturday night.

HAHAHA a $10 bribe!
I nearly fell off my chair laughing! The bouncers at the Drum are different pretty much every week! If someone offered them $10 to get in they'd piss themselves laughing.
This event was the first all ages party ever done by the Drum Club. You've got to expect teething problems http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif
The whole thing is ideally a learning experience for promoters and the same mistakes are rarely made twice.

in regard to the forged tickets.
this isn't the first time this year, i think MFI has had 3 or 4 gigs this year with forged tickets.
most recently at after forever.
having extra security measures done on tickets isn't cheap believe it or not..
its things like this which jack up the price of tickets for the legit payers.

Actually I stood in the line with my friends for a while.
It sucked, but you seem to be unable to understand the explination as to why there was a line.
In regards to the bribe thing, I'm still laughing. Fake I.D is one thing. A $10 bribe is another.
The Drum Club is ideally a business operation.
It would be lovely to live in happy raver land and put on fantastic parties and bring over great international Dj's and do it just for the love, but if you want to do more than 1 party and send yourself bankrupt, then you've got to make money.
That doesn't necesarilly mean you aren't doing it for the love of the music or the scene. It means you have commonsense and want to keep putting on events.
I hardly think last night had enough negative aspects to warrant half of your comments, especially resorting to childish slander of the promoters because a few dodgy people decided to rort the system.

I have to say me piece again. Look even if there were fake tickets it wasn't dealt with well. As said before it is a fair whinge to say that we missed Mickey Finn, paid good money for the ticket, were not given an explanation. Sitting in line asking what the problem was and being spoken to like shit.
If there is a problem deal with it. Don't just leave everyone sitting in line waiting. No apology on the door as we finally got in. An option for a refund would have been good. It was really badly dealt with and irregardless of whether it was oversold or forgery's we were all left in the lurch. Like I said we finally got in and it was too hot and then there were fights. In the end we gave up and went home.
All this talk about teething problems and what not is just rubbish. Drum Club run a club every week and should be organised and should know how to deal with these things.
I just feel really ripped off. I probably can't afford to go to Blackout now and had I know it was going to be like it was I never would have bought a ticket. http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Well... the night was ram fuckin jam. Everyone went off (apparantely some guys went off too much and tried to fight?!?) and everyone enjoyed the beats played. Great set by Micky Finn and I only caught the last few Hardcore tracks in the second room but they were going off.
Just a little bit too hot in the main room, good night overall though, totally different look to the Bridge Theatre compared to Lost the Plot 2. Werd to anyone who I stumbled into over the night, hope to see you all at Blackout 2.

Well seeing as this has turned into a thread for people to gripe at the Drum Club, I'm going to have a whinge as well.
But first, Adam and lysergic, thanks for the kind words. It's the biggest buzz to look over the floor and see people smiling and getting lost in the music. I've got something special planned for Blackout.
Now the whinge...the dj setup in the second room was crap. The eq's on the mixing desk weren't working at all which makes it really hard to mix. The monitor speaker was too soft and there didn't seem to be any way of turning it up - and it was emmitting a loud popping sound for most of my set so I'm glad I never did discover how to make it louder. I'm also yet to see the wisdom in putting all the speakers on one side of the room towards the back.
Thirdly, I was never paid as promised. I hate having to be a cunt but if I am ignored again over this issue then I'm going to have to take things further myself, which I don't want to do but will. I'm sorry this issue has to be raised on a public board but as the girl in charge of this ignored me when I tried to raise the subject with her I don't have any other option.

Sappy - Just coz YOU got fucked around, it doesn't mean the whole event was shit.
Sure, I had to wait in line for around 3/4 of an hour with RandomLogik, but I'm not gunna cry over it. Drum Club may not have done EVERYTHING perfect, but IMHO they did a pretty fuckin good job. Forged tickets happen. Get over it. This time there appeared to be a fair few of them tho. I know the 2 tickets i bought were real coz one of them came from an MC and another from a trusted friend - At the Innerscape party i went to before MF, they both showed up fine up under the blacklights. And if you're having such a shit time - do the people who are enjoying themselves a big favour and FUCK OFF AND GO HOME. We don't want to hear you whinge, we go for a good time.
I say congrats to the drum club for a good event, congrats to most of the people there for keepin it real and congrats to the DJ's (and MCs) for the awesome entertainment!

I would suggest that seeking some legal advice on this matter maybe a good idea. I know its a bit of a fuck around but it might be a good way to get the message across. After all, actions do speak louder than words (most of the time)

for me, the problem wasn't the fact of actually waiting outside for so long - it was the rude service of the security and no information as to why we were outside (yes i understand now, but it would have been nice to have been told on the night) There are many people in that line who don't go on teknoscape and you should have heard all the rumours as to why we weren't let in - put it this way drum club definately wouldn't be in their good books
I had actually had a really good night, and this event would have to be in my top list of the year. Luckily the vibe there made a big impact on my night, haha and the set of hardcore http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
If the reason is dodgy tickets, then it would be nice for an official response on the issue, .. drum club ?
Elhornet i doubt you would be standing outside very long, with a VIP pass and all ?
good luck with the next event, just take a little more precautions and your on your way with an even more decent event http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

well fake tickets is nothing new. and there definitely were fakes.
still angry about the fights, as the bruise on my hip is pretty fucking massive. grrr.
bit annoyed as i went to see mickey finn, but couldn't stand the heat, or the crowding, so spent most of my night in the other room. which i enjoyed heaps. woulda been cool if there was a few more people dancing in there.
didn't go to themeetup. had no idea what time i got there, or what the time was all night. i did see rico alot, and met adam brown, and saw i few others i already knew (h4rdst3pp4, freedom)
was an okay night, but i would much prefer to see mickey finn in a smaller club (like players or stadium)

Actually i saw with vapours when the fight first started, it was during your psyco 1 million beats per second hardcore.. My god, some of you fucking suck sometimes.
Randomlogik: Read my again post about the line, and why I stood in it. Because my friends were in there and I thought I'd be nice and keep them company. There were no VIP tags either.
Akira: The EQ's on the RANE mixer work beautifully when you push the button down that says 'enable eq'.
In regards to not being paid, I think you should possibly grow a shred of professionalism. Did you stop to think about the fact that today is MONDAY, and the event was only 2 days ago? Whoever mentioned legal action needs to locate a brain.
I really do hope you have provided an invoice quoting your ABN, or a hobby form, to Brett or the Raggabone management. It would seem like that would be the sensible thing to do rather than complaining about it on the internet like a child. If you've done this, then I'm sure your money will be given to you within 7 days, as is the case with most parties.
In regards to Mickey Finn being better at somewhere smaller and 18+, last year at Geisha was twice (if not three times) as packed as The Next Level, and it was utterly shit in comparison to Saturday.
Someone else said the fuckups on the weekend were totally inexcusable as the Raggabone people run a club every week and blah blah blah.
Unfortunately an all ages party in a non club venue is slightly different to a club night and involves alot more things.
I think some of you need to either think before you speak, or realise that you are blowing things totally out of proportion.

Paul, thanks for your reply..I always look forward to hearing from such an informed person such as yourself.
I pushed the button that said 'enable eq', the eqs didn't work. I pushed it again, it didn't work. The two djs before me also said "the eq's are a bit off and on'. The eqs weren't working...at least give me some credit.
In regards to your comments regarding payment - I admit that they are a bit out of order BUT I wouldn't be mad except for one thing...
I arranged to meet said girl @ Rosemount at the Hardline night, she didn't turn up. I thought little of it but then I noteoped her the next day and she ignored it. I have spoken to her via sms on Saturday night regarding set times but nothing was said about it then either. That's my main gripe. Like you can gain from my post I don't mind playing for free. It's just the fact that she ignored me. Even the orgainser has responded to other complaints in a seperate thread, but failed to address mine.
Regarding the invoice I'm going to drop one off at the drum club on friday if I'm in Perth.
Oh and I'm not sure if you were aware or not but the arrangement was I was going to be paid in tickets...what good are tickets after the event?
Btw what did you think of Finns set?

Look El Hornet I made those statements on here out of complete frustration. I had a terrible night, got ignored when I tried to get it fixed on the night so what else am I supposed to do. It is everyones right to express an opinion. In the last 6 months that I have been looking at this site you have written heaps of praise and negative things about gigs and DJs and clubs as well and I never considered it whinging I accepted that you had strong feelings and expressed them.
The night is gone for me and my friends and i just want the people concerned to think about that and fix it up for next time. In the last year that me and my friends have been going out we have been to 5 events and we have never had problems like Saturday night. If they read these comments and see that people were angry enough like me and my friends then make sure it doesnt happen again. I don't want other people to have a night like we did.
certanstyle: you most certainly are entitled to your own opinion... However I fully agree with El Hornet... He does post negative and positive feedback about events - BUT - he presents it in an unbiased and neutral manner - ie, not just whinging and bitching at the drum club and telling them to fix up there act, etc.
And I don't think i've seen anyone actually attempt to start a rebellion against a promoter before either...

i think drum club put on good nights, they support the dnb scene very well and next time these problems won't happen as they are looking into it.
Understanding that this is their first party (well for a while), things will go wrong. i'm sure any promoter can speak for this. hell if it were my event it would be a lot worse http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif i think the security was a bigger problem than the actual lining up itself.

What would you have done 10 years ago raving in a dirty warehouse? "oh my god...my new white hipster pants are getting dirty!!"
This is what I have been thinking the whole time.
Akira - talk to Brett. Fucked if I know why you had to deal with the person you did. That won't be happening again if I have anything to do with it.

i don't think the venue is what was bothering people.
hell i'd love to have an old warehouse venue, berlin was a great venue along with the ravenstein warehouse.
the reason why people are pissed is because they payed money to see an international, and failed to do so.
the situation has been explained - i understand it and like i's post, got over it .. http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

certanstyle: you most certainly are entitled to your own opinion... However I fully agree with El Hornet... He does post negative and positive feedback about events - BUT - he presents it in an unbiased and neutral manner - ie, not just whinging and bitching at the drum club and telling them to fix up there act, etc.
I dont think ANYONE with active involvement in the scene can post in a neutral and unbiased manner. Everything has potential political ramifications.
Really only someone with no aspirations to be DJ, no allegiances to any promoter, goes to and enjoys both 18+ and all ager events could have a "neutral and unbiased" opinion. You are naive to think otherwise.
However people can present intelligent well thought out critiques of an event.... well its possible in theory, but rarely demonstrated. http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/wink.gif

Well I just think that no matter what, people are going to find something to whinge about, I mean ... we finally get a hardcore room at a big all-ages party and then people whinge about the moniters or the set up or something ... just fucking accept whats there for what it is and make the most of it ! I had a great time playing in da hardcore room, there's nothing better than to see a crowd of ravers going off to hardcore IMO http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Mate the reason I brought that up was for one reason...raves are all about the dancers. If a piece of equipment isn't working properly, ultimately they're the ones that are going to be worse off because of it.

Hey it wouldn't bother me if you were - I see where you're coming from. Seems like every event there's always people whinging. I think that's a Perth thing though.
Drum Club has explained things to me, which has at least helped me to understand why some things were the way they were. I think the main factors were time and expense (how much do you think Finn costs?) and from what I understand they did a good job considering all the different factors they had to deal with. Nothing at an event is ever going to be perfect and I accepted this a long long time ago. Just on a side note my problem with payment was with the girl who was organising it all, and not in any way with drum club - I've since cleared this up too.

Random - so if it were a choice of a hardcore room like it was or no hardcore room ... which would u choose ? All I'm saying is, being negative does'nt get anybody anywhare I mean a promoter could do heaps of good things for a party which will go unmentioned BUT the moment there's a fuckup ... people want blood, all I'm trying to say is ... way up the good and the bad ie ... the moniters were'nt the best but hey at least we had moniters ... or the sound system was'nt as good as the one in the main room BUT it was good enough and everyone had a good time by the looks of things ! I could go on forever but I'm starting to go off on tangents ! Do you understand where I'm coming from ?

i do understand where your coming from. I was thrilled that there was hardcore, that comment wasn't a personal one. it was a general comment, but i must have taken your post the wrong way, what i was getting at was that the music is the main reason people go, so naturally it should be the priority.

Fuckin hell, I was there from 10:30 on and didn't see anything. I didn't leave so didn't have trouble with the tickets, didn't see the fights, though I was there for a couple of the sound problems in the hardcore room. Didn't have a headache either. I was a little put out by the early finishing time, but what you gonna do? When the venue owner's being a bastard thats that. It was just awkward cos the guys I went with left early and I had to catch a taxi by myself or wait an hour and a half for a train. http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/confused.gif
what the f**k was with the chicks in the toilets. oh well i got a kiss out of em

hehehehe, I was number 20, so got me a hug. WOOHOO! http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/tounge.gif
All in all I thought this was a ripper of a night. The hardcore room rocked the casbah something chronic. It really psyched up the crowd and it wasnt overly crowded so you could go mental. The d'n'b room was wicked too, but I spent most of my non-Mickey time in the the 2nd room. Big ups to the happy hard boys and Quimby for playing a fine trancecore set to bring in the morning. The d'n'b room was hot, but I didn't think it was overly bad. I mean any time theres a good 500 people dancing in a confined space theres bound to be a bit of heat. I felt like I musta sweated 3 kilos while I was there though. Pity I missed the TS meet-up, I'm bloody curious as to what you people look like. Anyway all in all this was a fucking top notch night and I had myself an absolute blinder. Good to see the Drum Club intend to do more all ages in the future. Anyway, hopefully I'll see you all at Blackout. http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

In Regards to sound:
The sound system at The Next Level was the Hawk Pro Audio Turbosound system. The same system as used at Lost the Plot 2, except divided into 2 seperate send to cater for the two room layout. The spakers up the side was a logistical thing, although yes it does ruin any stereo imaging that may be present. In general, the Turbosound cabinets are better for rock music, unless you are using TSE111 cabinets for your top end, which are perfectly suited fro dance music in my opinion. Unfortunatly, the Hawk system is comprised of TMS4s. (Just a note for those interested, the designer of the TMS4 changed job soon after, and moved to head designer at JBL, hence the JBL AP25s are exactly the same as the TMS4, JBL was sued and forced to pay to Turbosound the retail cost of every AP25 sold.) I agree the system wasnt huge, but for a room of that size, the levels should have been adequate. (Note: Headaches?) The monitors were powered Turbo cabs if I remember correctly - I personally never use powered cabinets for commercial events as I find they tend to overheat, distort, and generally not sound as good due to a lack of enclusure volume. On that note I will add the Turbosound powered cabs are probably the best powered unit on the market. I would use powered speakers for small private partied with a low level, not to rinse out the dj booth.
In Regards to lighting:
The lighting system was not state of the art, but lighting is not cheap. Give them a break.
Good or bad, either way, put it behind you, it is now firmly in the past and is not coming back. If you lost money on your ticket then write it off, these things happen. I was disappointed to miss the dj that played the first jungle mix-tape I ever heard, but such is life, and you cant always get what you want. I do agree you should get what you pay for - but if you dont, and it is not the promoters fault, then dont take it out on the promoters, Drumclub or raggabone.
Also in regards to the venue owner:
Dave, who runs the bridge theatre, has every right to shut down an event early. It is his legal obligation to ensure compliance with the venue capacity laws - otherwise he could stand to lose a lot of money, and lose venue licences, insurance, etc. Dave is one of the nicest guys in the venue "industry", and is only trying to keep things legit. If you owned a house you wouldnt want it destroyed, and if it were destroyed you would want to hope like all buggery that your insurance still stands. No different with a venue, or anything for that matter. Use your brains here people, realise that Dave is only doing his job, and trying to make a living - aren't we all? I hope the Bridge Theater gets used for such events again, as it is the next best thing to the Swan Barracks, and at a fraction of the cost. I am almost certain though, that Dave will not be as enthusiatic.
Just my two cents.
And if you are wondering about sound lighting and visuals, please email me.
Regards,
Mark.

haha nice one mr. brown "Furious George! what have they done to your beautiful face? Smithers, this monkey is going to need most of your skin."
good post too smurf, you've gotta see things from the venue's point of view. they have a limit on the amount of people for legal reasons, such as fire safety and stuff. if they get caught breaking it then there will be huge problems and will probably think twice before hiring it out again. my first rave was in the bridge theatre and i thought it was a great venue, and i'd like to be able to go there in the future http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif
anyway, first of all i wasn't actually there (for a variety of reasons:( but from what i've been reading there were good & bad experiences. i think the people you should be blaming are those that were selling fake tickets, starting fights, etc. and were ruining it for everybody else. i'm pretty sure the promoters and venue owner were just as pissed off about it as the rest of you were - and that probably explains why they were in a bad mood. In hindsight there may have been things they could have done better, but organising an event like this takes a helluva lot of effort so they deserve some respect. all ages events are becoming a bit of a rarity (with promoters like delerium doing only 18+ gigs) so its probably a good idea to encourage the people organising them or you might not end up with any at all. i think they drum club will have second thoughts before doing another all ages event.
putting all that aside - a lot of the people i talked to had a fantastic time, so hopefully you'll all remember the good parts of it.... i think maybe everybody should have just calmed down and had a group hug - http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/biggrin.gif LoL
