Ashley Casselle played an awesome set and got the crowd bouncing along nicely, not cheesy not too boring and progressive .... just right. John Kelly was a big surprise, he really got the crowd going and standing right in the thick of it, I thought the roof was gonna get blown off. He played a lot of well known tracks which some may consider cheesy, but he was just getting the crowd worked up. Good crowd, good night .... bring on december 2nd Gatecrasher Summer Sound System??? Is it gonna be an outdoor or indoor festival http://www.teknoscape.com.au/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

It will definitely be an outdoor thing, I believe it will actually be the Delirious festival under the Gatecrasher name.... bring it on I say - best of both worlds! Saturday was a wicked night, I haven't been to any big events for a while for various reasons and I was glad that I chose GC to come back to. It is always good to see DJs just enjoying themselves and making us all smile without having to be all serious just because they have a name. Big up & respect to Jeremy and everyone else behind it all.
I thought that John Kelly was awesome - we saw him last year at Metro - and he had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand - not a disappointment at all.

i don't kranky, but personally i know i am much more impressed by a dj that can scratch REALLY WELL, or, just cut the tracks up real good. i like seeing a master at work

Holding a perfect in-key mix for 4 minutes also takes a bit of skill... (ala Digweed) but its a lot harder to appreciate unless you know the tracks/or are listening extremely intently.

i will absolutely agree with that, john digweed (i cant believe i thought that was just his real last name till 6 months ago and to add to the utter humiliation it was my dad who had to point out the glaringly obvious to me) is a fucking legend because every tune is keymixed and seamlessly mixed but that wasnt what i was on about. am i to take this that no-one has an answer and the fans are merely sheep- (churchy i believe thats your cue)

I like to see a dj having a good time behind the decks but also appreciate it a lot more when they are constantly manipulating the tracks. Trance djs have trouble intoducing scratching into their tracks (choice and jayd did a good job in their set on sta night) so it is up to them to mix tight and do it well. Casselle was an excellent example of this on sat, tweeking the bass and trebles even playing two copies of the same track at one stage cross mixing them... good job. John Kelly was awesome but did not alter the tracks as much... still his tune selection was mint!! *(tiesto- flight 643) blew the lid off the place and fire-wire that was something to remember. Djs are their to entertain and they entertained me on sat night, top job delirium another massive aprty to your credit.

Jayd and Choice play "X-pander by Sasha" every week they probably think its new. haha
They also played "Perfect Motion" by Sunscreem at Steve Lawler which is nearly 10 yrs old I think.

does it really matter how old a song is aslong as the crowd is pumping and enjoying themselves??...for instance...MoS..infusion with their mix of "need you tonight" by INXS..
why do ppl have to criticise the way dj's mix...why can't you just go out and have fun??...isn't that the whole point of going to raves??...or is that the old scene??...
on another point...how can you guys shut up long enough to listen to every song being mixed??....don't you ever have the need to blabber out your enhancements??...LOL...like me sat night...oh and if talked to you...and wouldn't let you go..i apologize,..hehehe...i couldn't help myself...just hide next time you're at a rave...http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/images/smilies/images/smilies/smile.gif

perfect motion in my view is one of the best dance tracks ever made, they may have played the sasha track (i wasnt there but i knew every tune minus two in whatsisfaces set whereas i only know a couple in ch and jayd set
scrumpy, i do have fun but when someone is being paid shitloads of $$$$ to play i want to hear something special not just something i can hear here. ie new tunes i aint heard or mixing and programming that rips my head off. ive been in this scene now for 13 yrs i dont like dross and i dont think i should have to like it- pop a few more pills and grab another glowstick- who cares whether its any good or not..BULLSHIT.. if he aint any good... DONT TAKE IT PERSONAL MAN...SEND FOR THE NEW GUN

why do ppl have to criticise the way dj's mix...why can't you just go out and have fun??...isn't that the whole point of going to raves??...or is that the old scene??...maybe for the same reason people criticise the way actors act, or criticise the food at a restaurant... get the picture?
you go expecting something good, if i go out for a good time, then yeah, i won't criticise, but if i'm going to see a dj that has been advertised, you don't expect to hear shit mixing or outdated tunes
(need you tonight is excluded because it is the best song ever)

Well said ! Nice one hitmon
yeah no shit,
A dj's job is too dj...
Theres good ones theres shite ones..
Just like theres good baskeball players and shite ones..
Ppl go to a game to see there team win! Or to see a good game at least.
Ppl go to an event to see the dj go rip shit up!
If yor basketball team doesn't win, or the game was shit - you get pissed off..
If the dj you went to see doesn't rip shit up - you get pissed off.

i know im coming in a bit late here but i was sorely dissapointed that jayd and choice didnt play operation blade, i used to go to technqiue just to hear them mix that into other poorly produced cheezy anthems.
