New Antix album to be released very soon. I have heard samples on the Iboga website, sounds very tasty. Still that trademark Antix deep progressive sound, but they beefed up those basslines this time round, can't wait to get my hands on it!!

Listening to it now, very impressive. A great variety of tracks, love the track Cartwheel especially, very nice breakbeat/psy ambient fusion.

Zenon Records presents - Intelligent Manipulation (va)
'Spose this came out ages ago, but I just picked it up and am loving it.
Morehdel has so much depth and space, it's incredible. That quirky synth that comes in at 6 minutes does it for me so much.

Yeah that's one of the things I really like about Sensient, he keeps bringing in new instruments right until the very end of the song. Doesn't follow the standard 'arc' formula.
The little shaker noise about 5 mins into I.D.E. is my current fav

it's an oldie from 2001 but only found its way into my collection recently
Haltya - Forest Flavour (http://www.discogs.com/release/6773)
Pelinpala under a different name, but still the same style of well produced ultra-full-on circus psytrance. They've released something more recently but I like this more.
If you like this, check out Pelinpala's album (http://www.discogs.com/release/212162)

I've briefly mentioned this album somewhere before but I think it deserves a second go
Kindzadza (and friends) - 13 Dimension Connection (http://www.discogs.com/release/392935)
Full of energy and electricity but still keeping it nice and dark. Killer basslines the whole way through, just how I like it. Quite pacey too, a perfect primetime cd. I had this album on repeat during one of my recent brain adventures; it just keeps on giving.
Favourite tracks are:
Kindzadza vs Ocelot - Mute
Kindzadza vs Grapes Of Wrath - Snap Crackle & Pop

i've been away for a while, so there's a few cds i've got recently that i think are fukn awesome. these are some of the tunes that are floating my boat at the moment...
Album: Ekogen - Sub Psytrance(Sacred Sounds Records, Cairns)
Fav tracks:
4. Trickle Freak
6. Euro Morning
This guy makes some fucking decent tunes, He's been making psytrance in Cairns for a few years now, this is his first release and the first release on Sacred Sounds Records... a Cairns based record label. Cairns has got alot going for it right now, look out for lots of great parties and releases in the future coming from this region!
Album: Shpongle - Nothing Lasts... But Nothing Is Lost(Twisted Records, UK)
Fav tracks:
Tracks 7 thru to 13
What can I say, another masterpiece from the two gods of psychedelia! Every single piece of this story is amazing, but if i had to chose a favourite portion it would be chapters 7-13.... absolute musical bliss :D
Album: Haltya - Forest Flavour(Exogenic Records)
Fav tracks:
1. Facelift
3. 1979 Flashdance
9. Dancing Into The Night
11. Happy Haltyan Harvest
The masters of finnish wierdness have delivered another cd full of quirky sounds, strange voices and weird melodies. Haltya is coming to Australia soon, it would be awesome to get him over here. would certainly weird a few people out haha
Album: Black and White - Frame By Frame(Hom-Mega Productions)
Fav tracks:
2. Retro Active
3. Beater Street
5. Music Is...
6. Tension
9. The Punisher
These guys a fucking amazing, that's all there i to it. It's refreshing to hear something new in regards to fullon, instead of that old rehashed crap. these guys are onto something, watch out for them in the future!
Album: Mr Peculiar - Mind-Dala(Sonic Dragon Records)
Fav tracks:
2. Compressing Time
5. Mind-dala
6. Timeline
Another solid release from another awesome australian artist, Mr P has done an emazing job with this album. A perfect follow up to his first one on Tribeadelic Records. Hard driving fullon that would suit either night, or early morning!
Album: Rip Van Hippy - The Whole World's Hip And That's Not Cool(Psyharmonics, NNSW)
Fav tracks:
3. Que Estas Mas Macho
5. Ghost Of A Smile
7. Rapanui(Eric Can You Lend Me Your Island)
Crazy experimental stuff here from Rip Van Hippy, an aussie artist who has been releasing experimental stuff like this for years. Fucking love it... perfect for around midday when everyone is zonked out!
Album: VA - Rainbow Serpent Festival 2004(Green Ant, Melbourne)
Fav tracks:
1. Sun Control Species - Underage Japanese girls
4. Mindelight - Morning Light
6. Fractal Glider - Things That Go Bump In The Night rmx
7. Benza - The Wolf(Live mix)
8. Kruger & Coyle - Junglemuff
An awesome compilation that has been out for a while now, but none the less the tracks are still amazing. There's stuff on here from crazy night(fractal rmx), hard progressive early morning to funky chunk late morning. My fav on this would probably be Junglemuff... it bridges the gap between progressive trance and progressive house, and is so damned funky!
Album: VA - Aerocruz(Groove Zone Records)
Fav tracks:
1. Side A - Hybrid Rise
3. Son Kite - Let Us Be(Vibrasphere rmx)
5. Soul Surfer - Bonzai Beach of Magic
7. Triptych - Two Ears and One Mouth
This is probably the most surprising cd that I bought... I found it in JB HIFI(one just opened up at Whitfords) because I have the first Groove Zone cd, which is also good. But this cd has blown me away. Epic morning tracks all around here, with some of the most beautiful melodies I have heard in a long time! This cd is sure to get alot of play from me if I play in the morning!
So all in all, I am fucking stoked with every cd I have bought since i got back! plus the fact that JB HIFI just opened up like 5 minutes from me means that I have a ready outlet for psy. Sure the range isn't too extensive, but they still have alot of good stuff in there if you look hard enough. I found the Black and White, Rip Van Hippy and Aerocruz cds in there.... plus they also had the new Beat Bizarre, Infected Mushroom, X-Noize and a variety of other stuff. Lots of psyharmonics releases which is awesome, looking forward to buying some of those. Prices are pretty cheap too for a store, most cds were only $30-$35.. whereas I have paid $40 in some other shops!
BOOYA psytrance is on the rise :D
Album: Mr Peculiar - Mind-Dala(Sonic Dragon Records)
Fav tracks:

5. Mind-dala
6. Timeline

I'm nuts about that album.. If I had to narrow it down I'd say 7. Crystal Energy would be my favourite, but there's not a dud track on the whole thing. The CD cover artwork, which he did himself, is some of the best looking cover artwork I've seen in ages too. Very talented guy hey.

Everyone has heard of LOGIC BOMB well here comes the duet solo album from one half of LOGIC BOMB Tranan, Its sounds very Logic Bombish but with a twist of lemon and a strewberry to add to taste i think to me and I absolutely lovin' it, will have to play alot of this album at outdoors coming up.

UZE IT FOR EVIL!!!!
Thats right guys and girls, I have a question for you....
ARE YOU CONNECTED?
This album is floor stomper, all killah floor fuckin' fillah. I cant get enough of this CD, one of the best journey's i've got from a Compilation CD, and I starts with Full-on and end with Full-on
My favourite tracks on this album would have to be going from Killah to Fuckin' Killah
4. Neuromator vs Atmaah - Organic Noise
3. Hyper Frequencies - Crazy Sense rmx
2. Mechanix - Mindover
and last but not least the best track I've heard for along time that make me orgasim like this
Psychotic Demon - UZE IT FOR EVIL
Now what can i say about this track......Uze it for evil by name and Uze it for evil by nature. It start off with this sample from a Movie i think it was End of days (yes end of days that shit movie) any way its starts of veryy quite talking, but then Arnie starts yelling (thats what got me thinking it was end of days). Back to the story....
When Arnie starts yellin "you UZE it for evil....now you must die" and from that point on it get fucking awesome till the very end, There is only one slight comment that comes up and that during one of the last melodies (if you want to call it that, i call it an ear bashing) it travels on to long, but fuck me, who cares, I fucking cant get enough of this track.
Well thats the end of this little report, Its not much of a review but hey if my reation to this album must show this album is a must buy for any fanatic Psy-head
and I'm stoned

Alright this is what i think so far
lubeylubeylubey - bassline is a bit dull to be honest, and i think you alredy know that another thing i picked up on is it was going no where. When you make psy the journey is the most important part of the track, because your sending the listener on a "trip". But the you've got a bit of a bass/footing built which is the easy part. now the hard part is to throw in different layers here and there, this helps with the journey and a pauses aswell goes along way, for the pauses give the listener the illusion of a change in direction/path which means you dont have the same tune going all the time....because after awhile it does get kinda boring also and ya waiting for something to happen
The Squealer - This one is a bit better, bassline has a bit more omph and "detail" to it. Also what your doing is the introduction of new samples and sounds over time . So I think your on the right track on this on. And its a good example of what i was talking about before in the previous track. Only comment and I'm sure you know this too there is a massive gap of just a bassline and kick lasting for what seems 18 bars or something, fill it in with some other samples that echo perhaps, thats always a good way to s-t-r-e-t-c-h outsomething and disguise those unwanted gaps and "white space" you hear
All in all though i think its not to bad for a start. I can see you are following a hallucinogen/Orion/Sandman sort of path. I suggest the best thing and advice myself and probably what anyone else can give you is listen to Some stuff by Hallucinogen and a crew as old as posford called Orion. grab a CD by these guys and listen to itwhen your not on drugs. Pick an individual layer out and follow it along. I'm not going to say anymore, because you need to really listen to the music and pick up on what he does.
On a side note most dance music you would usually hear around like trance, hard dance (no sure with Drum and Bass) they dont have too many layers in it, probably 10 if that, while psy-trance your looking at a rough estimate of around 15+ layers and thats usually a simple track. Posfords stuff geez that would be around the 20 - 25+ range all individual samples and layers.
Keep up the good work ey

Only just found this thread...
The entire Psysex Remixes album is extremely good indeed.
Checkout Raveolution as well, Chemical Crew innit. Astrix - techno widows & Bullet Proof - Bolivia are quality. Agreed on Artcore as well...
Skazi - Zoo is another old one but has some wikkid rmxs on it.
Lets not forget Infected Mushroom - 'I Wish' (check out the Skazi rmx as well).
Xerox and Illuminatio XI is pretty good as well.
All a bit old now, but Dali has a new album out called Hectic which is more than likely worth a look.
Bit detatched from psy atm as i'm not in London.

Dali? OMG, please stop the bad man now.
rom http://tinyurl.com/lpc3h
Shit cover, shit album. But you knew that already. Dali may be the only person since Alien Project to stick their arse on the cover of one of their CD’s but she still looks like a duck. And yes I made that bit up about Alien Project’s arse. The assembled masses of People With Taste (that’s you lot) would probably sooner be confronted with the back end of Ari Linker than listen to this anyway.
Hectic is probably the best argument in favour of illegal file-sharing networks I have ever come across. It is your duty to steal this, and it is my duty to incite you to steal it.
The music is largely very substandard isra-eurotrance fodder, with the additional cancerous bonus of Dali’s singing. Her voice isn’t bad: Follow The Signs is tight in a Morcheeba sort of way, even if the melody is more or less nicked off Seal’s Crazy. Other tracks on the album see her habitually singing beyond her range, and not making a great deal of sense as she does so. Her three singing voices are one that sounds a bit like Kate Bush, one that sounds a bit like Beth Gibbons, and one that sounds a bit like Michele Adamson.
Keeping all this in mind, how about some background. Quoted in last month’s Mushroom Magazine, in the bit about women in trance, Dali patronises “Girls want security, something that they can continue with for the rest of their lives, where they can have a baby with a relaxed mind,” thus negating decades of women’s liberation and dispelling the myth that this is a scene that empowers strong, independent women.
In this illuminating interview ( http://tinyurl.com/pvvpu ) from a couple of months ago, she comes across as a bimbo: she wants to be a professional surfer, her role model is Madonna and her advice to other women in the scene is “Don’t think too much, just do it.” Lyrically she lapses into weak cliché (“I need someone to hold me tight”) and seems to like fitting into this mode of a wide-eyed industry chick, rabbit in the headlights style: “who am I and where are you, please tell me what to do.”
With little lyrical substance, you might hope that strong music might give this album vital life support. Of course, it doesn’t. For the most part, Dali’s music is exquisitely shit, although it really reaches its faecal zenith in the tracks with Silent Hill, who are the real villains here. There are grotesque guitars, over-the-top high end pads and arpeggios a six-year-old might write. I’m not even going to analyse this one track by track: it’s pointless.
Hectic is more than an album. It’s a signpost of where we are and where we’re going. We have reached the point where a woman of average attractiveness, who sings below-average lyrics in a below-average manner, can sit at a mixing desk and produce something as tackily disposable as this; and it gets picked up and hyped to death by the biggest label on the planet. The real travesty in all this is how much it will sell.
Utterly dreadful as an album, utterly fascinating as a cultural phenomenon.
No score (which is different from zero).

One proggy album that I have heard that is absolutely superb is by Perfect Stranger - Learning = Change. I am hoping for more releases like that in the near future!

I quite like the first two tracks off the Psyshop feature album this week (http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/rpr/rpr1cd001.html) but the rest of it doesn't quite cut it.

Krumelur - Paramoral (http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/zen/zen1cd007.html)
New Zenon quirkiness.
Various Artists - The Lurker (http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/ccr/ccr1cd003.html)
More minimalism care of Cosmic Conspiracy (NZ Label). Sensient is on mastering duties for this one...
I'm also looking for clips of the next Cosmic Conspiracy release as well (Bufo - Bug Eyes) which sounds quite good from the descriptions.
Also tracked down a few new Sensient things that I hadn't heard before.
Dissolve on the Kodama (http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/plu/plu1cd111.html) compilation, which is definitely a bit more "psychedelic" than his usual output.
Ultrasonique which I can't seem to find any info on release-wise. Think Morehdel but more stripped down.

Zenon Records presents the third album from Australian act Sensient - "AntiFluoro". Following on from his last album “Pressure Optimal” Sensient brings you more of his deep, intelligent, minimal-progressive creations. The trademark dark-tech vibe is still evident, but a more quirky vibe is also in effect. The emphasis is on original sounds, syncopated rhythms and deep soundscapes. Updated production techniques have been utilised, and this combined with his determination to push musical boundaries ensures that this release is a unique experience in the psytrance scene.

One thing I got to disagree with you on is Vibrasphere. Yeah, it's probably just my untrained ear but it just felt a little too overstated for my tastes. That said, I'm not really a fan of "pure" trance per se, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Penta - Noise Complaint - (Yeah, you've got a date with a skinless chicken breast! MWAH HA HA HA!)
Other really really good stuff:
Penta - Portugeuse Abduction / Horn Please Albums - (very dark, moody, experimental)
Osom - Zealot - (Off Hypnotic Vibration compilation on Noise Poison Records, quality CD for dark)
VA - The Exploding Man Compiled by Azax Syndrom - (highlights: Iron Madness - Optimus Prime & a wicked 2006 mix of Transwave's classic - Land of Freedom)
Entropy & HappYLeptiC - 3 Some - (Once again, very dark with a driving bassline and killer glitchy sounds)
Kindzadza - Waves from Inner Space Album - (FUCKED UP!!!!)
and...
Dark Soho - Long Way Home - (Old I know, but a classic I rediscovered)
These all inspired me to write more tuneage, finished version of "shieox - crossfire" can be listened to/downloaded at http://www.soundclick.com/sheeyohx - I hope you can take some time to listen to it, psy lovers! [Not so shameless plug.]
[EDIT: Just to clarify, I've been told my new stuff sounds a bit like Naked Tourist!]

This one surprised me... definitely more dancefloor and less prog than his last one:
Cujorius One - The Art of Mindfucking (http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/hea/hea1cd008.html) [2008]
Also check this out, it's a new project from Prometheus (Younger Brother) and Raja Ram (Shpongle, 1200 Mics)...
they're calling themselves The Zap! (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ymKA7eU1Nb0) and it's actually a lot of fun. I'm guessing it'll be out soon on Twisted Records
edit: TIP Records... figures!

Permutations 2 from Zenon is being released on 5/6/2009. Samples sound pretty tasty.

Hallucinogen - In Dub Live

In May 2007, Twisted Live in Concert gave us the opportunity to record a unique Live set from...
...Hallucinogen in DUB. Featuring Ott, Simon Posford, Youth, Jackson and David Nock, it's a beautiful acoustic performance of the classics you know and love under a new arrangement from the live performance.
A solid hour of heavy grooves and upbeat psychedelic sofa monsters that features several new tracks. This release will bring the energy of the event into your living room and the excitement felt by thousands as they watched these seasoned professionals firing out their electro-acoustic meanderings.
Anyone? :alien:

ok, so I'm not really familiar with any psy artists apart from Hallucinogen and Infected Mushroom, but when I've been at doofs, I've heard some crazy crazy psytrance stuff that was really dark, some was pretty fast but not all, and pretty twisted (even for psy), ie. lots of random pauses, speed changes, etc
I really liked it and would love know what kind of artists make that sort of stuff?

CPC
PPC Project
Baphomet Engine
Ocelot
Misted Muppet
Ghreg on Earth
Mubali
are some of the "dark" artists I rate atm. The new CPC album is especially good.
Ghreg on Earth
There's a new Ghreg on Earth album coming out isn't there? It'd have to be pretty good to live up to Sigilweaver..
