^ Heh! Course, I passed, but never stopped in at, said Carlisle St Salvos on the tram while heading to The Local Taphouse. I went to that pub three times, no less and the Provisions bottleshop.

I much prefer the little cottage hehe

Awesome links & locations , I shall investigate forthwith.

Brunswick St in Fitzroy. Second hand jocks aint my thing but when I took some friends there they spent the whole day in op shops and still didn't get through half of them.

Theres also Savers on Sydney Rd which is the ultimate dress up party shop.

    Hellz yeah, combining an op shop crawl with a pub crawl?! Only in M E L B O U R N E!'

Talking of The Local Taphouse, it's quite nice. It is Kind of like St.K's answer to The Sail, but quieter and not overshadowed by a certain participant within one of the world's true duopolies.

I am seriously looking forward to the release of The Age's Good Bar Guide. Here\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s a taster.

Checked out The Kodiak Club and Builders Arms Hotel among other Fitzroy gems with my brother who was in town for a few days last week.

It ended up being a pretty epic day/night's drinking that saw us both taking in almost ten pubs in as many hours. We even managed a wee bit of street drinking in Clifton Hill (amid pouring rain) having boarded the wrong tram out of Fitzroy lol.

And now I am back to being ronery again

10 days for me. Hitting up Hybrid at New Guernica on Friday night, then random catchups and drinking with mates.

I just looked up my old house and street in north fitzroy, the picture was taken on a nice sunny day and it made me miss M E L B O U R N E a lot.
7 chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea. It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby. Step into my office.

Went to The Kodiak on Friday for the first time. Cool lil place. I'm loving living northside. Fitzroy/Northcote/Brunswick are awesome.

Looks like my bro took the weather back with him - not hard being as he always travels light

Northside is where it's at imo. Kodiak was closing so we couldn't stay long - but in that short time I learned a couple of the finer points about whiskies.

I am currently enjoying a Vale Stout at the iconic and oh so cliche (but most cliches are so because they are good) Young & Jacksons. Not minding the smooth house music in the background either.

There's a nice wee metal merch shop (not a patch on JVs though) in Ringwood I checked out. The Lamb Of God hoodie I found there was well worth the arsenumbing 4 hour round trip by train from Epping.

Joey: how much had the place appreviated in value, if you don't mind my inquisitiveness? I ask because Fitzroy has kind of become M E L B O U R N E's Subiaco, insofar as property value/prestige are concerned.

Loved M E L B O U R N E. Had sooo much fun. Broke my MCG AFL virginity with a ripping game on Friday night. Followed up by a free 'secret' gig at the Forum (awesome venue btw!) feat Nayseaya (sp?). Hit a few other bars after that which were cool. Went and devoured dumplings in china town prior to the footy and also stopped in at New Guernica for a drink - awesome bar.
Sat smashed brunch then did a bit of shopping followed by watching Eagles get smashed by Pavlich at my mates house in Carlton. then hit up the Pies v Saints game - another ripper. Followed by a super fun warehouse party in South Yarra and a few other bars / clubs after that.
Good times. Cant wait to go back now!

nar, shes back early november, thats fucking ages away!

theres also here, i just remembered: http://www.jamonsushi.com/
perfect for small groups as the place is tiny. no menu, the chef just creates dishes on the fly after having a convo with you to see what you like/dont like and only stops cooking when you're full. if the markets are closed that day then so is the restaurant so it's all mega fresh. i think they can fit 6 people around the bar where the chef works so you can see him put everything together.

If I weren't skint right now, I'd be checking out Mr. Natural's Pizza, just near Acland St. Gluten and lactose free. Had no idea of it until I did a little exploring today.

Decca Bar on Queen St do a weekly Friday metal night. Sweet!! The "DJ" (!) was even happy enough to play a Lamb Of God request to celebrate Randy Blythe's release from custody in the Czech Republic.

And OMFG thankyou Lord of the Fries for providing a 1am fried food fix to those who don't eat meat!

Slurm and neonknome: why do you you follow Onijin around the forum responding to his posts with passive agressive/bitchy/troll posts?

Reminds me of a couple of high school girls. To his credit he hasn't told you to fuck off, I'd have done it long ago.

    Superb deflection

Well as I said, he's ignoring it, which is the mature response. I just wonder how someone who seems to have a passion for social justice reconciles the increasingly frequent bursts of cyber-bullying by yourself and your partner?

Although I think it superb white-knighting you are attempting there, I do think you do Onijin an injustice. He takes the light-hearted ribbing with admirable bearing, and gives it back, on occasion, with considered and entertaining subtlety.

Leveling a judgmental finger at us, while ignoring all the real daily cyber-bullying that goes on around here is pretty amusing.

I've developed a pretty thick skin now, and dish it back on occasion. Compared to, say, the stuff people like Satan spew out every now and then, it's relatively mild.

do you know how many times I've kept my mouth shut about all the fuckhead shit people say on this forum, essentially because I don't want a herd of numpties overanalysing all my posts and accusing me of being some kind of collaborator just because I said something that might align with the opinion set of the alleged hivemind of slurm/frogman/multivital etc?

    heaps, that's how many
