Currently watching Green Street Hooligans. My fav movie ever

I'm taking no religion, No religion's taking me
Now theres only one thing, One thing that sets me free
Listening to my music, The escape to keep me sane
With an overloading bassline , That goes straight to my brain
I push up on the volume till its crystal clear and loud
My body starts to tingle just by listening to the sound
Nothing else can do the same, It hits the spot so fast
Music is my first Love, It will always be my last!

I thought they did go into some sort of explanation. iirc he takes all these weapons that the terrists give him, and extract all the palladium out of some critical component, then melt it down into a ring, then puts that into his chest and says its a miniature version of the one in his lab.

    i enjoyed that part

was ok but jeff bridges character was lame. the suit reminded me of 'super shredder' from the turtles 2.

Last night I watched The Island.
I've had it on DVD for ages but never got around to watching it.
It was probably the most exciting movie I've seen for a while - and a good plot I thought.
    Plus - double Ewan McGregor!!

30 days of night - was ok. the two leads, melissa george in particular, were better than I thought theyd be. a cool idea too, but the vampires in it were lame as fuck - no explanation to them whatsoever, i hate that. ending was ok, somewhat poignant instead of the usual. 2.5 stars

shoot em up - fell asleep. seemed ok before that. 2 stars - may review again later so score is somewhat accurate

anyone catch any of "Alexander" the other night on TV?

what a piece of shit. angelina jolie as a greek with like a russian accent or something, colin farrel as a blonde greek in a bad wig with his irish accent. even val kilmer couldn't save that bullshit.

30 days of night sucked. i'm fucking sick of zombie films.

yes it was a zombie film. don't let the vampires fool you.

nah, they completely ruined it for me. no explanation as to where they came from, what they were doing there, what their motivations were. even the well worn "toxic chemical released from top secret lab that infects everyone" would have been better than "no reason, theyre just there ay"

if you were as diligent a reader as you are a healthcare professional, you would have noticed that i said i fell asleep!

I was enjoying it up until that point, i plan to watch it again sometime this week. clive owen is too cool an actor for me not to watch it. the beginning reminded me heaps of children of men - clive running around with a baby in the middle of a firefight

yeh i realise now after watching it that if u go into with an understanding/prepared that its 'meant' to be the shittest movie ever, u will more than likely think its awesome/funny. If you watch it out of the blue like i did expecting a serious thriller based on the actors past movies/performances and hoping the opening cheesiness wears off u will quite quickly press stop thinking its the shittest movie ever.

    iron man tonight... cant wait.

then.. indy 4 soon!! its getting very mixed reviews so far although I have forced myself not to read any of them and make my own mind up. im useless that way i always read heaps about movies before they come out n im left with no surprises. not this year though.

havent read anything about iron man, indy 4 or dark knight. gonna be awesome.

i'm struggling to think of a vampire movie that did explain their origins? although i know they sometimes do it very rarely occurs.

not that i'm defending 30 days of night. i thought it was an interesting premise but the execution left wanting.

haha yep I fell asleep too. Seemed pretty corny/lame before I fell asleep, but I might give it another go.

What's with all these 'trying to be serious but funny at the same time' type of movies coming out lately?
    deathproof
    planet terror
    shoot em up

I'm sure there is more but I can't remember at the moment. They are weird, I don't know what to think of them.

dracula - still the best vampire movie ever
    28 days/weeks later

i dunno, i just found the way it handled the vampires really lame. they mentioned something about being around for thousands of years - but in alaska? cmon.

planet terror and deathproof are part of the grindhouse series, a homage to B grade. haven't heard of shoot em up tho.

I know that. What does a homage to B grade mean? It's like they are trying to take the mickey, but not at the same time...

cant blv u just said umm hello haha. anyways yeah if u read what i said i did note that there was obviously some but a) i couldnt remember any and b) not that many.

you've named 1. awesome. and dracula yeah. dunno if 28 days later counts as vampires though??? or zombies for that matter. "infected". vampires are a bit more sophisticated than the things in 28 days later. i guess they are all a variation.

i think blade discusses the origins of vampires although i cant really remember. like i said im sure there's others but either way i don't really have a problem with movies that don't explain where they came from.

    ANNNYWAYYYyyyy

watched iron man last night. even though i tried to avoid reviews n stuff i still had heard it was the best thing since sliced bread so my expectations were too high.

it was really good though. robert downey jr is the frickin' man. and the offshots for that movie are endless. sam jackson at the end as the head S.H.I.E.L.D who forms the avengers. tony stark (iron man) is in the upcoming HULK movie. it looks like captain america's shield is in the background of a scene in iron man who is also part of/leader of the avengers. its weird how movies are made this way now. its good that marvel comics are taking control of their movie adaptations. well good so far.

you've named 1. awesome. and dracula yeah. dunno if 28 days later counts as vampires though??? or zombies for that matter. "infected". vampires are a bit more sophisticated than the things in 28 days later. i guess they are all a variation.

i think blade discusses the origins of vampires although i cant really remember. like i said im sure there's others but either way i don't really have a problem with movies that don't explain where they came from.

i am sceptical. the series could quickly turn to shit if pansies like captain america start faffing about.

agreed. there are plenty of comic heroes that should not be adapted into movies. captain america would make a fucking lame movie.

ive heard matthew mccaughnhay (no idea how to spell that). was at the top of the list for captain america. this troubles me immensely. brad pitt has been rumoured for thor as well but i doubt it.

but robert downey jr and ed norton (hulk) are two of my favourite actors so im pretty happy so far.
