watched indy 4 last night. and yeah i saw the indy 4 thread but its a movie and this is the movie thread and i cbf sifting through all the shit that is no doubt in there.

im still trying to figure out if i loved it. i know i liked it. but its a 3 star movie when i wanted a 5 star movie. sorta wish they didnt bother. although i was actually fuckin stoked be sitting a movie theatre watching an indiana jones movie, something that until last night was pretty much impossible. didnt mind the alien aspect of it or even shea lebouf. just some bits were ridiculous. one scene in particular involving monkeys. thats all ill say.

so after a promising american summer finally beginning ive seen iron man and indy 4 and while i enjoyed both i wasn't as buzzed by them as i hoped i'd be. bring onnnnnnnn the dark knight... so far away. give the hulk a shot in between.

    you are not alone there,

if anyone did "get it" you would have to worry about them......

but, stick with it, but consider it more like watching a dream state.

it is an incredibly atmospheric movie, and for what it is, very well done.

I watched "The Mayor of Sunset Strip" this wkd. Cool little documentary pretty wierd, cool and sad. Was about Rodney Bingenheimer a well respected KROQ radio presenter who was freinds to loads of stars and broke loads of cool bands but the film as a whole was more of a tragedy. Tons of cool rock and roll guests.

    Rented 1408 Friday night.

While it wasn't extremely scary, it still kept you entertained.
Twist at the end wasn't as good as it could have been but i wouldn't call it a bad movie either. John Cusack plays such a good character

Also watched Rouge Assassin (Called War in other countries?).

Really liked the twisted at the end and the chase scenes didn't annoy me like they usually do

Pierres lunch hour movie reviews edition # 7786

Suburban Mayhem - one of those typical 'slice of life' aussie dramas that keep popping up. tells the story of some bitch who has a kid and is a complete and utter succubus to everyone around her. drugs, sex, etc. for some reason the movie tries to make her the hero, even though she has no redeemable qualities whatsoever, and has no redemption. starts out as a comedy but then tries to be all gnarly and in your face. Margaret Pomeranz called it "one of the finest aussie movies of the year". I reckon shes full of shit. 1.5 stars.

Hot Rod - comedy about a kid (or adult? his age is indeterminable) who wants to be a stuntman. Extremely derivative, Adam Sandler/Will Ferrel formula, but some very funny scenes. Isla Fisher brings the eye candy and a Greg Norman-esque hybrid aussie/yank accent. 3.5 stars

Deja Vu - Jerry Bruckheimer directs, stars Denzel Washington. Normally I hate Denzel with zealous fervour but this movie has an interesting time-travel premise thats reasonably original, in a sci-fi action crossover sort of way. Cheesy as fuck but the ideas behind the plot make it entertaining and worth a watch. 3 stars

Headrush - some kind of stoner/crime/drug/comedy caper. Apparently it won a bunch of prizes. I thought it was garbage. Tries way too hard to be Lock Stock. There was only one thing that made me laugh, and that was a cop who would always cough violently when eating some sort of unwieldy meal or snack. Once I realised that this was the only thing I enjoyed about it after 45 minutes, I gave up. 0.5 stars

Watched Control again on DVD, and 24 Hour Party People. made me get out all my melancholic 80s music and relive some teenage angst (even though I was in Padbury not Salford - however I've spent time in both and I'm not sure which is better )

Also watched a flick called Boxing Day - pretty harrowing tale about a fractured family who work out there is a paedophile in their midst. Pretty effectively made low budget flick - was an Adelaide film festival release.

i can understand that, whilst i think the movie was silly and non scary 100% - to me -
people would say the same thing about movies with clowns - esp 'that' one.
    *shudder*

i went in vid store and i know exactly where it is and avoid at all costs even put my hand/arm up if i need to go into that section - i remember going passed it looking for another movie and putting hand up but someone had moved it to wrong side of shelve (it meant to be right hand side third shelf down) but it was left side of shelf and second shelf down. I literally screamed, ran to my sister and she had to calm me down.

I watched Lions For Lambs last night, enjoyed parts, enjoyed the talk but otherwise not fulfilling.

P.S I Love You made me cry in the second scene and lots in many others. I never cry from movies or books.

Just watched rambo.....i luvved it tho i dont think it'll win any oscars or the like.
I was surprised Burma was the scene of this episode. I mainly expected it to be terrorists or the like......sorta like Rambo - Return to Afghanistan cos i fucked up and helped the Taliban and al quaida before. How the burmese army has continued the way they have annoys me. One innaccuracy is how the Burmese were armed with russion or chinese like weapons. Truth is theyd be armed with mainly brittish and mebbe US weapons.

JUMPER was shite. Really bad last half.

BE KIND REWIND was good in parts but had the cheesiest Disney ending EVER.

RAMBO kicked all kinds of arse.

And the first SAW is a damn good movie in my opinion. I'm a massive horror fan and the ending made the movie a classic. 2, 3 & 4 however, i could have done without.

i grew up on leslie neilson movies..watch wrongfully accussed or spy hard. vary similiar style of movies.
i watched be kind rewind on sunday night wasnt too bad, but became a bit lame towards the end. (the movie was quite cheesy mostly, like disney special cheesy)
also watched 28 weeks later on monday night..better then the first one, i generally dont like zombie movies and the like but this was deffinetly better then your average. looks like they set it up for another sequel set in france .

edit: also ppl check out 'the happening' trailer new m. night shaylaman or watever looks as good as signs.

i thought sex and the city was ok. Wasnt as wonderful as i thought it would be, and considering ive been rewatching old episodes lately - it really didnt come up to scratch. I think it tried too hard and missed the mark. Overly cheesy and schmaltzy at times, and really there wasnt enough sex. Seemed to lose most of the good bits in the big screen translation.

I did still enjoy it, and will prob see it again. The basic storyline will please fans. Just seemed to be missing a lot of what 'made' the show.

also - that girl who was in that movie dream girls, from american idol, carries assistant - shes a really shit actress, why? WHY?

music within - loved it, such a quality flick

futurama: the beast with a billion backs - lols aplenty .. good stuff

in bruges - theres something about a midget with 2 hookers doing coke that strangely appeals to me. unusual movie to say the least.

I did still enjoy it, and will prob see it again. The basic storyline will please fans. Just seemed to be missing a lot of what 'made' the show.

aw i suppose i always have little expectation for tv show turned movies - so they always seem to be exceeded Also I found the last season really rushed and generally poorly attempted to tie loose ends so found it all came together well in the movie, didn't mind hudson either

Power Rangers movie blew me right away.... It's always great when they're as good as you expect them to be
