I didn't think you could run Notator without the dongle.

I didn't know you can make an HR-16 sound like a 909 ?

Alesis HR16 has some good sounds on it. If I can remember correctly it has some pretty nice snares/kick drums.

My production partner Atari has a Roland SH 1000 (the precursor to the SH 101) which we've used quite often. Its piss funny looking with a woodgrain finish (look at the picture below), but it has some great sounds. The random note generator is pretty wack to play with.

Notator = CRACK version, thats why it is SHIT.

HR-16 = similar sounding, apparently, not my statement.

compressed: yer 707's are dandy but still if you were to use it live youd wanna beef er up some.

id play round with software first and just play round and learn alla the tricks you can. check out DOA (www.dogsonacid.com) , it has lotsa useful info and tips about producing. then id move onto hardware afterwards.
i just use software and samples etc but im saving up to go to a 10 week course teaching the ins and outs of a studio.....
http://www.omniverse.com.au
i aint no production master so thats about the extent of my knowledge at the mo.......
