i posted a recipe for it! it's pretty straightforward

    http://hungerhunger.blogspot.com.au/...a-chicken.html

instead of the white cut chicken you could adapt it for weeknight cooking by just steaming or poaching some chicken breasts and i think it'd turn out pretty fucking good

No, I bought a whole chicken to knock the legs off and then go carried away and ended up with a chorizo chicken and red wine dish instead.

This is the downside to being easily lead.

    There's always more chicken.

I've pretty much stopped buy pre-processed birds, and just divvy up carcasses these days, so next time I do I'll save the thighs and come back to that recipe

this should probably go in the lunch thread but just a headsup to other luddites like me - i thought heirloom tomatoes were like wank gourmet stuff, but i am currently eating a salad i made with them and it is delicious. they're much better than the normal kind.

When I bought my Chasseur (couldn't afford a lecreuset at the time) I pretty much gave up on the slow cooker. I think I've used it to make beef cheeks once.

The chasseur however, gets a feckin bollocking!

But you don't get to have that feeling of superior kitchen wankery that comes from having LeCreuset oven dishes, and Shun knives, while drinking from Riedel glasses!

seem to work a bit better than my friend's scanpan... i always wrestle with that fucking thing :\

i also have a cheapo nonstick, but it deformed on first use... could probably use a heavier-based one of them.

I love my Shuns. Have had them for 5 years. Get them sharpened every now and again and still as good as the first day I got them.

Our LeCrueset gets a thrashing, but so does our slow cooker. Depends on what we are cooking and if we are going to be home or not for the day.
Heist, you probably wrestle with your mates scanpan because they are over rated and rubbish. Definitely not as good as the hype that surrounds them.

I wouldn't. Makes sense. Just the same as the amount of tradies that use $8 lufkin tape measures. They're cheap and easy to get, and when they're fucked, get a newie maaate!

for knives, when it comes to perfomance to $$ spent then you cant go past Victorinox IMO. Great knives and very well priced.

i'm not gonna lie it was pretttty good. fell apart like pulled pork and was hella juicy. never made roast pork before so i was happy

not much to it though. brown crackling, wait 1.5 hours, add wine, wait an hour, rest while you make gravy, nomnomnom

hardest bit is cutting the skin, still only once nearly de-fingered myself with the stanley trimmer.
