What the fuck is wrong with my floppy disc drive!

I have two computers, let's call them A and B.

I'll put a floppy disc into A, copy some files onto it, and when I put the disc into B it says the disc is blank.
So I take the disc back to A, put it in the floppy drive, and the files appear fine once again.

The weird thing is I can do it in reverse (copy files from B onto A using a floppy disc) but for some reason not from A to B.

I'm using WinXP pro on both.

I had my first problem with IBM tech support EVER yesterday.

I told them their support was worse than Dell's Asian Call Centre.

Now they're sending me rebuild CDs so I can re-image my laptop properly and get rid of all the shit that was on there for free.

I used to use opera, but switched over to firefox.

I probably wouldn't have switched if opera could render webbanking pages properly.

Plus firefox has better plug ins. SALR > *.*

i can understand what you mean about the plugins froggy, but the thing i like about opera is that you dont need any plugins, it just works straight out of the exe

i find firefox pretty much unusable until you install at least 2 or 3 plugins

the only thing firefox misses is mouse guestures. Opera made me addicted to those.

though i have noticed more and more that pop ups are getting through firefoxes filters.

maybe I will give opera another shot.

Oh, i have them in firefox. The first plugin I got. Though I have some shitty little homebrew that only does a handful. I only use 4 on a regular basis, so I dont need to upgrade.

If I ever reinstall, I will be using that one.

I have right->down set to go to TS couch with this code:

    var d = window._content.document;
    d.location='http://www.teknoscape.com.au/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=6';
and left->down set to go to the scene

    pretty handy

draws trails on the screen as you do the gesture too if you want, which looks pretty cool

I think i've asked this before, but here we go again anyway:

Is there any way of making a functional duplicate of a master hard-drive? I've just bought myself a larger hard drive and I don't want to go through the hassle of re-installing everything from scratch, I just want to copy everything over and then use the new drive instead of the old.

I understand it's not as simple as just copying *.* from one drive to the next, but that's as far as I've gotten.

This is awesome news. They are very hush about it, obviously don't want to be sued! I might have to update my PSP to version 2 as there seems to be no development for 1.52 !

Depends on the games you play. The PDA should emulate any pre-PS1/N64/etc console just fine, but you have to think about the button layout. It's rarely optimal for games in any way, except perhaps old scumm/sci games (monkey island, sam n max, full throttle etc etc). The PDA may be more powerful, but it has to run Windows mobile, etc etc, whereas games on the PSP I imagine have full control over the hardware.

If I were buying either one with games in mind rather than needing an organiser with games as a bonus, I'd go the PSP (one with firmware low enough to be homebrew-compatible), since there are already working emulators for most of the pre-32bit consoles, with the advantage of it being comfortable and easy to play them. I wouldn't buy a PSP yet though, the price should drop significantly in the next 6 months.

I'm not gonna buy NOTHING until I can get something that does everything.

phone, pda, mp3s, games, aim, msn messenger..

would be ultra cool if it also had svideo out and played mpeg-4 videos

but it looks like I'm gonna have to wait a lil' while

I bought my psp mainly for games and the support that will come with it.. I was considering the PDA but I played some games on the Axim and really without proper controls it was really cumbersom and not a lot of fun. I'll stick to my PC for the games that will come out for the PDA.

Working PSP Firmware 2.0 to 1.50 Downgrader!!!

MPH has created a WORKING downgrader from PSP firmware 2.0 to firmware 1.50. This takes advantage of the toc2rta exploit and allows for the full downgrade of firmware 2.0 to firmware 1.50. I have tried this myself and have successfully downgraded from firmware 2.0 to firmware 1.50. Homebrew and UMD games WILL both work after the downgrade.

Okay, I found out why - rule #1 about Fight Club - do NOT talk about Fightclub! Especially not on teknoscape!

    I didnt know that.

Time to go back and edit some posts - if any of you guys have talked about fight club, i'd do the same.
