much like how I think big bang theory is awful

shows like curb, peep show etc are difficult to watch more than one episode of at a time due to the ridiculous levels of cringeworthiness

I'm watching the first season of penn & tellers BULLSHIT! Its pretty good so far, exposing con artists etc, but I think it going to go a bit far and start insulting peoples religious views and making assumptions that you're a fuckwit with no brain.

How I met your mother is so much more than a one liner show, same with the first three seasons of That 70's show. They both have more heart, and much better characters than your average commercial sitcom.

I'm watching through P&T's Bullshit too. They use so many questionable techniques, as in they get a few NUTS from the side they're against, so they just look crazy. It's still very watchable though.

Which episode are you talking about them insulting peoples religious views? And just out of interest, why would you feel that it is any different to attacking someones political views, why does religion have a monopoly on people not being able to question what someone believes if they disagree or feel that it's harmful to society?

EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm just asking as I'm curious what your/others opinion is on the matter, I'm not attacking or being overly defensive.

Yeah I've seen the Bible episode, which is pretty much like that. The creationist episode too.....but the creationists deserve all the hate they get IMO anyway.

I really disliked How I Met Your Mother as it seemed like a one liner type show to me also - then one time when I was sick for a real long time, I ran out of other stuff to watch and watched it from the beginning. I love it now. You have to know the characters and backgrounds, so many episodes (80%?!) relate back to others in one way or another at some stage, that would make no sense and most likely not be funny in the slightest to someone just watching it randomly.

When I ran out of eps because there were no more made, I really missed them! LOL

BBT is more one liner, you don't really need to know past episodes but it doesn't hurt as you do learn a fair bit about the characters in past episodes, that are relevant to many new episodes, it just really doesn't matter if you don't pick up on it - you don't lose anything. I thought it was a bit stupid until I got to know the characters better, only took a few eps and I was hooked though! I think you either hate it or love it. Takes awhile to warm to other characters than Sheldon, like Badr said.. I am only liking the jew lately. lol the jew.

There is a scene at the end where she is sitting on the steps with her sister playing hand games and I just found it really sweet and wished my sister and I still did that.

Is it as tedious as previous seasons (in the sense that some of the story threads are awesome, but others are too dragged out?).

With breaking bad I waited until the season finished, then watched them all together. It was awesome, but True Blood may actually be better to watch week by week.

It is better imo. Fuck the last 4 or 5 episodes of season 2 were just painful with that whole handmaiden of Dionysus thing.
