Default anyone go to the artrage event on friday night?

Just wondering if anyother TS peoples went to the artrage (I think) event in that closed/condemned hotel on Friday night, and if so what did you think? For those that want to know what it was, was basically an art show in that big hotel that's closed on Mill pt rd (next to the little set of shops). Each artist had a room, or a couple of rooms of the hotel that they could deck out however they wanted (like they were aloud to totally trash the room if they wanted)
There were some pretty cool pieces - and some pretty shit ones (in my opinion). I won't try to explain any of them because it'd take too long. They did have free piss though, so that was cool. There were a shitload of people there, and probably the entire art and hippy community of Perth - made for a good mix of people.
hmmm, anyway, anyone who went, what did you think?

    i went!

it was pretty cool, though i wasn't drunk [we got there later, when the alcohol had run out]

i especially loved the clothing installation!

only got to see the second-from-the-top floor, because they shut it down so early.

I'll tell you why I like to sit alone, because I'm a sadist, that's why we like to sit alone, because we're the sadists who like to sit alone

Yes yes I was their was a very good night indeed.

It was one of my friends who organised it ya know
History is hard to know, because of all the hired bullshit, but even without being sure of 'history' it seems entirely reasonable to think that every now and then the energy of a whole generation comes to a head in a long fine flash

Yeh that's my friend's dad's hotel (the Rhodes), he's a property developer and he buys shitty old buildings, knocks them down and builds new stuff.

It's been vacant for about 6 months, we've had a few parties there and just generally trashed the place and so it was funny to see how well the exhibition turned out on Friday night, there was about 3000 people through the door.

I don't think it was to do with Artrage though.

yes it was put on by ben christian and heather... lat names are not so important.
the alcohol did not run out it came out in 'bursts' as to last the night long. starting with wine and little creatures, tnext lot more wine (mostly) then coctails and mixers and finally many many shots
i think monkey and mitzi may have sensed this on my fine smile!! haha
well i didnt actually see much of the art work, too crowded!! but i had a fantastic time there!
the girl to guy ratio was pretty good too

    hehe

I went but Im not much into art. I always try to read meaning into these displays of so-called creative expression, but I think I try too hard.

Like there was that room which was basically an op shop with a DJ playing records in it. Apparently that was art so I thought about it for a minute. But the best I could come up with was that the artist/s was/were trying to depict a youth culture where young people thought it cool to dress in second hand clothing and listen to a particular type of music. Eg: rave.

Was that what it did mean? Is that all modern art is? Or am I just way too superficial on the analyisis? Probably the latter option...Ah its all too complicated for me.

i thought that the 'lion, the witch and the wardrobe' inspired room was very cool but some of the friends were really freaked out by those stuffed animals and the guy who stuffed a clove of garlic up his ...

oh well all in the name of art i suppose :/

shit also went down as the son of the owner of the place kicked a friend of mine in the back and while i was sitting in the room with the glass wall, some guy came in and splashed white paint all over the floor ... he was asked if he could do is "art" in the room...

u should have seen the way everyone ran to teh edges of teh room
