OP shopping is great. You can find some awesome stuff, and for super cheap. Although since it became semi-cool to OP shop, they jacked the prices up.

What are your arguments against op shopping. Please note that "its yucky because other people have worn the clothes" is not a valid argument.

Charity shops are awesome. I rarely get clothes but i look in them all the time. They're so random. After my xmas shopping, in a few areas around the city, it's was a shame to see how homogenised shops have become. It was pretty bad in uk when I left. Every shopping centre had the same shit. You walk down oxford st and the shops repeat. How can you have so many shops sell the same shit. You have no idea what you'll find in an op shop.

Yes, its great. Although it can be frustrating sometimes. You can go numerous times and not find a single thing you like.

ok so i have been one day to bout 5 different 'outlets' - Salvos, Good Sammys etc etc. for an 'op shop party' - which was actually a good idea for charity. The quality of 'stuff' was not quality and this is after having gone into numerous shops. Can't believe some of the clothes that were in there , smelly and stained to fuck. Blew my mind that there was a grundies bin in there also!! GROSS! Awesome if ya find that one 'piece' your looking for I guess but it wouldn't ever be my first stop. *shrug* Watever floats your boat. : )

So, you went into a second hand clothes shop and were simply disgusted to find that there were second hand clothes in there.

not any more though, although it is annoying that most of 'em are some brand of religious

I actually find washing powder to me be scary than the thought of wearing something that was worn by another person. This is not to say that I don't wash my own clothes ;p.

That being said, I never ventured into the Subiaco Good Sammy's, for that place had a weird smell about it.

Op shopping is great when one considers that it decreases demands on the world's resources/slave labourers (sure it's a brownie points thing when measured against new clothes being produced, bought, sold, not sold/destroyed and has little impact but anyway), and it's a sport. You never know what you might find.

Talk of black coats, I think I made a huge mistake in parting with my big black Southampton FC bench coat, found at Freo Sammy's back in 07. Whoops .

Can you actually use either of those as block devices in VMware? I know there are a few NAS that can allow you to set up iScsi targets, but it seems a bit suss how it hasnt got iScsi in supported networking features but has the logo.

yeh running openfiler at the moment, a bit of fucking around but got the FC target/plug-in working

Have just bought a new $50k SAN from dell/emc and havent put it in production but doing some speed tests with my own openfiler system vs. new whizz bang dell. getting some comparable results. It seems disk speed is the bottle neck whatever configuration i have. Alright for a $2k inhouse SAN vs. $50k brand name. SAN's are such a fricken rip off

yeah they are really expensive, but that's where all your data goes so you don't want it to break (and when it does, you want good support).
its not just perf either, its the redundancy you're paying for
which one did you get? i'm guessing for ~$50k its an ns120, if you've got some spare dollars you can chuck flash cache/tiering in there which should make it fly - plus it supports VAAI for offload of storage vmotion/template deployment tasks to the array
then you've got the raid type/config to play with to get the best perf for your workload
i could talk about this shit all day haha

We got the Equal Logic PS4100. A bit cheaper that the NS120 but we got the VMWare bundle and upgraded it with the VMWare extras. 24 sas 2TB drives, 2 x RAID 60.

Getting annoyed at all the weekend hours i'm pulling migrating servers about ready to get this thing in production. Cant wiat until i can use Vmotion instead. Clocked up a week off and cant wait. Maybe thailand/bali for a quick getaway. Anyhoo...
