anyone had movie success with 3d tv's? we have a quality $3k 3d sony tv at home, but havent found a 3d blu ray yet that has delivered. all unwatchable. Been very disappointed with 3d so far

yep - i've downloaded 3d movies and they have worked

they come in the side by side format like this:

then set your tv to 3d/side by side mode and the tv does the smarts
i've got a 65" hisense

my eyes are fucked so i can't see 3d tv properly, but leelz was popping bubbles out of the air like a fucked up ray charles

ok i havent seen that 3d side-by-side mode. we have the one which has the secondary image slightly off and it looks blurry without the glasses on. When you put the glasses on, and sit right in the right place it 'just' works. NOthing impressive yet tho.

I have no issues with watching anything (TV or DVD) in 3D on my TV.
Just got to push the 3d button and voilÃ !

P.S - have the same image as you. Do your glasses have batteries in them or are they the flimsy ones?

yeah on mine theres a few 3d modes - side by side, top & bottom, interlaced and 2d->3d conversion
its the same deal though, like with side by side it just alternates the l & r images, the 3d glasses have shutters that sync with the l & r images using an rf signal from the tv

nope battery powered (all internal, just charges from a usb cable) - i'm guessing its lcd or something so it can shutter l/r at ~100hz, not polarized like cinema ones

edit: here we go:

There are some more complicated systems as well, but because they are expensive they are not as widely used. For example, in one system, a TV screen displays the two images alternating one right after the other. Special LCD glasses block the view of one eye and then the other in rapid succession. This system allows color viewing on a normal TV, but requires you to buy the special equipment.

you playing it through a playstation or blue ray dvd player?

we play ours through the ps, we had 3d hdmi cord but it was crap, spent some good money one and it made a big difference.

Only ever watched half of Yogi Bear in 3d, what a waste of a 3d tv.

when we got ours we went and got a blue ray 3d movie and the ps3 said we needed a 3d hdmi cable so got one of them, then we got one of ebay and it was ok, then we got a $80 fan dangle one and it looked even better. well i think anyway.
