Nine Fine Food on Bulwer St is very good.

hrm... when I went to Catina at the end of 2008 before I started reviewing it was fucking atrocious. We went for breakfast and the barista looked like he had been up for about 5 days, the pancakes with "fresh berry compote" was literally strawberry milkshake syrup poured on top. My frittata was reheated soggy shit.

Looking at their menu now though... it looks like they have changed it and with a new chef it might be worth a go again.

Amazing! The appealing thing about this place is that it is BYO. Which is great if you have been aging a bottle of wine and you want to have it with a meal of "fine dining" standard. They will decante it for you as well.

    places i have been recently.

The Imp in vic park for breakfast. Been a couple of times. Highly recommend the hang over roll and the big breakfast with hash browns. Best hash browns ever!

I like a bit of mexican food every now and then. My favourite in perth has always been sante fe in subi. I don't rate the one in freo at all and i think that panchos is average. Went to one called "that little mexican place" in north perth and was suitably impressed. Every thing was tasty and fresh plus the service was exceptionally good. They have a second restaurant in vic park thatis apparantly byo spirits to add to their non alcoholic margaritas. I plan to do this this weekend.

Had Wok and Roll takeaway Jap from Mosman Park. Was authentic and tasty and you can take it into the outdoor cinema next door.

So turns out Zafferano was not a good pick. We had dinner there on Saturday night and I didn't think the food was that great. Considering we spent $180 for the two of us, I would expect to walk away from it being impressed. Plus I am pretty sure the vegetables we had were microwaved and not fresh at all.

Anyways, I can’t remember if I mentioned it in here or not but Prego in Wembley is awesome. We had the duck, pork belly pig and the fish and the food there was incredible.

Yeah, I was very non-plussed wtih Zefferano too.

I'd also like to point the bone at a popular (how the fuck can it be?!?!) Bunbury coffee establishment, Henry's, near the water. Modelled after Dome, it comes across after the fact as a ver cheap knock-off.

I asked for a big breakfast, eggs benedict, and two macchiatos. Not hard. Simple table fare I would have thought. Heh, just goes to show you never can tell.

30 minutes later, our meals arrive, and coffees, (why did I have to wait for the coffee?) My bacon was a blackened (black bacon!?!) cripy wafer, my suasages looked like an old man's dick, and my eggs were streaked with the same black mysterious ooze.

Now, macchiatos are a maker or a breaker, and after two sips I couldn't stand any more. I think the guy had pulled three shots out of the same beans, so they were a frizzled, burnt disgrace and the coffee was a chocolate coloured disaster.

Very irritated, I left vowing never to eat in bunno again. You've ruined me Henry!!!

hmm, octopus balls - were they the small doughy things they prepare in what looks like small spherical muffin tins - with a dark brown sauce?

    BYO Monday to Thursday still

I went to La Lola in Nedlands last night, very awesome. Food was delish (pizzas there are very good), very busy little place. Only thing that sucked was that they dont take bookings and it took about 50mins to get a table.

Hippo Creek is fucking awesome, a carnivore's paradise.
Feast your eyes on this bad boy, The Hunter's Assaagi.
They drizzle garlic butter on the meat so it drips it's garlicky buttery meaty goodness onto the chips.

Hunter's Assaagi is amazing. The one at Hillaries is such a better venue as well. It's nicer to look out onto the water.
