Spotted over on Dogs On Acid, via this thread on DNBArena:
"The rumours are true. Mistabishi is a complete and utter fake.
I went to Bassment presents Hospitality @ Bar Mango in Reading last night and it was awesome. High Contrast and Logistics both played wicked sets, i was having a great time until i went up to the balcony (which overlooks the DJ booth) at the beginning of Mistabishi's set and watched him play a mix CD on a CDJ and prick about pressing buttons for a whole hour!
I litterally couldn't believe my eyes!! He put vinyl on the decks then pretended to mix them...even though it was the same 2 vinyl the whole night! How do i know? Because i watched him take a vinyl off a turntable, put it in his bag, get it BACK out then put it on the other turn table and pretend to mix it!
The guy spent so much time dancing like a penis behind the decks in not supprised he couldnt mix. It's annoyed me a little bit because the Bassment guys work so hard to put nights on and with the exception of Mistabishi it was a wicked night!
Let this be a lesson to all you promoters out there, he charges hundreds of pounds to turn up and play a mixed cd.
Shout out to the Bassment family.
xXx
Here's an explanation, having to do with what sounds like a live PA set-up that didn't come to fruition:

Sorry if this has already been posted. I remember his set at metros but and me and my mate kept saying to each other that he dint look like he was mixing much.

bad move on his behalf, can't help but feel sorry for the lad atm with all the grilling going on, but it was his own actions that got him there in the first place i guess.

i still rate him as a good producer, but yeah i don't think he's gonna get booked for many gigs anymore until he sort of redeems himself - if thats possible.

lols at the printer samples from printer jam not actually being his but from freesounds lol. although i've downloaded a shitload of samples from freesounds myself heh

doesn't take much to learn how to dj at all, esp with the production background. ahhhh mistafishi

brings back memories about milli vanilli. cept he was dj miming lol

This is old news, those "in the know" have known for a long time that mistabishi cannot dj! Fact!
He plays mix cd's and pretends to go through the motions of mixing, he also on occasion has been known to throw vinyl he was pretending to mix into the crowd only for whoever catches the vinyl to realise that is not the track that was just playing!

Also mistabishi assured hospital records he used samples for printer jam that he himself had personally made, he said he sampled various epson and hp printers, only for hospital records to be contacted by a website that provides royalty free samples to complain that mistabishi had in fact used samples downloaded from their site and not given them a mention... when faced with the truth mistabishi finally admitted this was what he had done and he had lied previously.

ALSO... hospital records gave mistabishi a year to learn how to mix, apperently he just cannot do it properly and failed!

ALLLSSSOOOO....hospital are now telling promoters who want to book mistabishi to perhaps think about booking somebody else. Ive also heard the fact he is an "ex cityboy" is lies as well and hospital records believe mistabishi to be slightly bi-polar... in other words mad!

Old news, move along, nothing to see here.

Ps. Why would you put this thread in the couch?

since when has djing been too hard to learn? ... anyone with half a brain can do it, and it just so happens to be one of the most overrated skills a human being can master

imo he wanted to get caught

Mistabishi should have known the ammount of trainspotting that goes in drum and bass as well as anyone.

After reading about what happened Mistabishi has not done his music any justice whatsoever.

A little dissapointing.

He made a mistake and will probably regret putting on a bogus performance for a while to come.

As for the sample incident. Who cares. He still makes some pretty rad tunes. He can steal my samples anytime. Sure he should have attributed where he got the samples from, but I'm sure Freesounds will be getting quite a few hits because of this little controversy.

hahaha. This shit is so funny, I've been was reading all of this last night laughing my ass off. The dnbforum thread is the best, half of it is just ripping on his jumper for no reason.

re: freesound. I've stolen sooooooooo much from there, I freely admit that I am a thief though, so it's OK. Like how Mel Gibson is an alcoholic so it's ok that he's racist.

you should spare a thought for anyone who was given that same jumper as a gift

too polite to refuse, and too ugly to return to the shops

Id take a licorice allsorts jumper over the straight brimmed cap + skin / fox shirt combo that's running rampant in the Joondalup area. I guess that's an entirely different arguement altogether.

PS All animal sounds in my track "The Congo" were recorded on location in Africa, not stolen from freesounds. Just in case any of you were wondering. I'm a raver that's what I enjoy. I went to Africa with some mates and heard my own tunes *loud*.

I don't think you know the meaning of the word 'raver'.

Hint: nothing at all to do with safaris, or niggers
