It’s safe to say that this winter is shaping up to be the hottest on record because Inhibit have organised a seriously massive double-header comin ‘atcha this weekend.

Featuring two of the most exciting and respected producers in drum & bass right now, representing the very best in both Tearout Jump-up and Neurofunk, Inhibit teams up TANTRUM DESIRE and STATE OF MIND in the same place at the same time.

TANTRUM DESIRE

A south east London based duo, Jay Faleye (Producer / DJ) and Devin Smith (DJ) who go under the name Tantrum Desire, met in 2004 at a small pirate radio station through the love of drum & bass music. In early 2008, the Tantrum Desire had a fan base which was only getting bigger, and the sound was getting a lot of word of mouth, until the duo was contacted by one of the biggest pioneers in the game – Simon ‘Bassline Smith’, who saw the variety of styles in the drum & bass productions and therefore became interested. This led him to making the guys an offer and signing an exclusive deal to his well established label – Technique Recordings. Straight away, Technique released Tantrum Desire’s debut 12” – ‘Xenomorph’ & the ‘Last stand’, which surprisingly was presented on BBC Radio 1 by the likes of Zane Lowe. From this, then set the trademark in the scene for the sound of big baseline synths and immense intro’s.

Things started to get even more serious after the release of Tantrum Desire’s well known anthem of 2009 ‘Here they come’, which featured on the ‘10 Years of Technique’ celebration Album. The track straight away stood out from the crowd and was rotated by many major DJs in the scene. Furthermore, this resulted in getting weekly plays and breaking into Top 10 Charts on mainstream radio stations such as BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and Kiss 100. Also hitting charts on many online media related sources such as, Trackitdown, Beatport, Drum & Bass Arena plus more.

In 2010, Tantrum Desire had released the first 4 track album EP, debuted on Technique, named ‘Runaway Bass’. The 4 track piece was purely a smasher for the dance floor environment, created in manipulated styles. ‘Chill’ – which was the first taster on the drum and bass sister genre called drumstep, featuring one of the dnb’s top notch vocalists ‘Youngman MC’. At the mid stages of 2011, Tantrum Desire released another 4 track EP on Technique called ‘Foreplay’. This included the anthems ‘Play tonight’ and ‘Pay your own way’. The EP was a package that included catchy vocals, 2 of which featured the voice of Jon Reline, one of Jay’s good pals.

From the great success of over the past year, Tantrum Desire entered a roll in popularity and high demands were flying in to remix the likes of LaidbackLuke, Ministry of sound, Matrix & Futurebound, Shimon, plus more!

Being a respected name in the drum & bass scene, Tantrum Desire always look to take things to the next level and is always working to evolve that trademark sound. The progress has already begun in the fields of working in projects which integrate house, electro and dubstep influences, whilst still maintaining the focus of drum & bass. This reflecting to an album which is soon set for the near future!

STATE OF MIND

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, State of Mind are the duo of Stu Maxwell and Patrick Hawkins. Beginning their careers in 2005 SOM have become notoriously prolific producers with releases on a broad spectrum of labels throughout the dnb scene. Material can be found on the shelves via CIA Recordings, Teebee’s Subtitles Records, Friction’s Shogun Audio, Viper Recordings, Doc Scott’s 31 Records, Concord Dawn’s Uprising, Bad Company, BSE & Obsessions, Project 51, Samurai and more.

Not happy being mere producers and DJs, SOM Music was launched in 2009 and is now regarded as a premier niche label in its own right. SOM Music is home to artists like Nymfo, Black Sun Empire, Spinline, Jade, Mindscape, Dose, Borderline and Tiki Taane to name a few. State of Mind released their first full CD ‘Take Control’ on Uprising Records in 2006, an album that garnered them the publicly voted award of ‘Breakthrough Artists of the year’ on the B-Net radio network in NZ, and a nomination for a prestigious NZ Music Award.

In March 2009 they released their second LP, ‘Faster than Light’ on their own label SOM Music. Their third album called ‘Nil By Ear’ was globally released in April 2011, peaking at number 5 in the NZ Charts. This was also nominated for a NZ Music Award. State Of Mind are the former hosts of the hugely popular ‘Next Level” 95BFM drum n bass show. The show has now been relaunched in monthly podcast format due to popular demand.

Drum & Bass parties don’t come much better than this folks!.

Perth, show the headliners how we do!
