featuring DJs Taucher (Germany), Mario Piu (Italy),
Garry White (UK Slinky Resident)

Wednesday 26th September 2001 • 9pm - 6am
Rise & Base • corner James & Lake Streets, Northbridge

By popular demand, following its sensational appearance at Two Tribes in March this year, Slinky returns in its own right to Australia. There are only a handful of “superclub” brands in the world, and Slinky is most definitely one of them. Their mega-successful Friday nights in Bournemouth and their weekly residencies in both Bristol and Leicester are some of the biggest club nights in the UK.

The club is not only known for its huge, mentally-hectic club nights though - Slinky also continually pumps out a phenomenal number of high-charting CD releases worldwide. Slinky, to date, has released eight albums in its short but glorious four year history. This includes the “Super Club DJ’s” series which has featured many superstar DJs. Equally well-received though were its pumping trance CD’s such as “Slinky presents Planet Moscow” and the release for this tour “Planet Sydney” .

Standing out from the bunch of pedestrian UK clubs, Slinky’s legendary status has been achieved through its life-affirming, hands-in-the-air celebration of the power of dance music. Its weekly DJ roster includes the biggest names in the world today as the club strives for perfection in everything it does ? and it will be no exception as Slinky gives you a night out you will remember for the rest of your life.

DJ Taucher
Taucher has been busy conquering the world of trance from his Frankfurt base with brilliant releases and exceptional DJ sets since 1992. His name means ‘diver’ in German, acquired after wearing a scuba outfit to a local club. Alongside Paul Van Dyk, Taucher is one of the few German greats on the worldwide trance scene, and there’s probably not a single respected techno/trance club in the world in which Taucher has not performed - and performance is what it’s all about as Taucher has far more talent in him than just being a DJ. He’s an acrobat who can hang upside down from the ceiling to work the turntables, a performance artist who may change his outfit up to ten times during his set, and a dancer who’ll climb up on the DJ console to execute ballet-like forms which his party guests imitate. Always in command and always on the wavelength of his audience, DJ Taucher’s a man who keeps finding new ways to surprise the crowd and place them under his spell.

Mario Piu
Named ‘Best Techno DJ’ at the latest Italian Dance Awards, Mario Piu has also been dubbed “The Italian Fatboy Slim” due to his extraordinary creativity and talent. He is one of those famous DJ’s from Toscana who contributed to the growing popularity of dance music in Italy, but his sound is appreciated right across Europe, taking part in the most important events in England, Germany, Holland and Switzerland. During the week Mario works in the Media Records Studios, playing the most important Italian and foreign clubs on the weekends. His latest releases include the collaboration with Mauro Picotto for “Arabian Pleasure” and the remix of DJ Taucher’s “Science Fiction”. Prior to these, releases like “Techno Harmony” and “Questions” came out under the M-Plus moniker. While other tracks have inlcuded “The Vision”, “Love Game” and the track dedicated to the Metempsicosi Club in Florence, “Matrix” and the big hit “Communication” which sat at top 5 in the UK national charts.

Garry White
Garry White instinctively knows just what his audience wants, and is always prepared to give it to them - and then a little bit more. He’s a man of true passion who artistically understands his music and can blend and twist every last ounce out of every tune that he delivers to his dance floor. Creatively and technically Garry is a master of the turntables, as his last four Slinky compilation albums testify. Garry’s unique blend of quality underground and uplifting progressive trance has gained him many industry admirers, and complimenting his outstanding DJ abilities is his increasing list of impressive production/remix credits. Garry has been producing music for the past six years under various guises, his latest release, “Precious” as Lowfields, providing the kick-start for the new Slinky ‘Sneaky’ label. As Yekuana and Northface he has delivered pure musical quality with inclusions on compilations from the likes of Sasha, Digweed, Renaissance and Ministry of Sound.

Setting the standard in mid-week clubbing, Rise follows on from the incredibly successful GodsKitchen, Independance and Love Parade tours and continues its run of Wednesday night events with Slinky on the 26th of September. For the first time Rise and Base will be operating together to create a two room superclub experience with the cream of international DJing talent playing in the Rise main room supported by Choice vs Jayd. Meanwhile local lads Dazz*K, El Hornet and Krank vs Skelly will bring the beats without a break in the super-chilled and refined atmosphere of Base lounge.
